Q: I'm 16 male,
I got my braces about a year ago and when they put them on when they stretched my mouth they hurt the corners of my mouth because they got too dry. Now I have always had problems with the corners of my mouth being to dry or something but ever since I got my braces it has been terrible.
About every couple of months they get dry and i just put some chapstick on and then they go back to being normal. The last couple of days my corners of my mouth have been dry and cracked feeling and no matter what i put on so far nothing helps...
What is the reason nothing is helping? What is this called?
I have gone to the doctor once and I don't feel like spending more money for them to just tell me to put chapstick or vaseline on when that stuff does not work. What can i do to fix this?

I remember when I had braces I had the exact same problem!!
The reason behind it, is probably not one you will like. It's because you drool and that is what causes the corners of your mouth to become sore and cracked and painful.
same logic as licking your lips a lot causes them to get chapped, when lips are wet (from licking, etc) the water evaporates and pulls out moisture. same principle with the corners of your mouth.
so, advice for you from someone who has been there.. what helped me was to sort of put chapstick on the corners of your lips each morning (if you can remember every morning, if not as often as you can remember when you wake up) to prevent the drying from becoming bad. (which leads to all that bad stuff)
that's all that you can really do, I mean because you can't really control what happens when you sleep.
sorry if that's not really good advice, it's just something that worked for me back in the day. hope it works for you too! :)

Q: Does hot water open pores?

I'm not sure if it's the hot water that opens pores exactly or the steam from the hot water, but yes it does. I know that if you put hot water on a facecloth and put it on your face it will open your pores.
hope this helps and answers your question! :)

Hey, that's completely normal, my friend gets hers like 3 times a year, she's 21 and not on any sort of birth control either which claims to make you only have three a year... It's just they way she is. It varies from person to person, especially if your as young as you are... it will not always be regular. No need to worry about it

Q: Ok so I am 15/f and never kissed anyone before. So in my dreams if its about like being with a guy i never get to the kiss part. But last night i did. FIrst time thats happened (that i know of) any way so my dream was confusing. So i used to have a thing we this guy and we stopped talking and i missed him alot but i eventually go over it or so i thought i dont know i guess i have a softspot for him. Anyways last night there were two guys in my dream. The guy i used to have a thing with and another one who i dont know but i felt like a i knew him in my dream. So me and my friends were in a classsroom and we were all just talking. So one of my friends and me texted the guy i used to have a thing with and we talked for awhile. Then he comes into the class room and bring me roses and talks, hugs me and then leaves. Then after that the guy i don't know comes into the room and says hi and starts talking and then hes gotta to leave so he kisses me like a couple of times. Then says "we will get to the rest later" and leaves . After he leaves all my friends start freaking out and then my eyes get all watery because I was happy or something (idontknow ahaha) soo i was wondering what this means. I usually never get to the kissing part of my dream and the thing with the guy that i used to have a thing with really shocked me because I thought i was over him and like after the kiss from the random guy my ex.flind guy was all i could think about. HELPpppp

Well, I'm not very good with dream interpretation, I know my dreams never make any sense. But I will give you my opinion on what your dream means. I think that maybe your dream is telling you that you still have a thing for your ex, even though you may not even realize it. I think that it's kind of telling yourself that when you get over your ex, you will meet a new guy, and he will give you your first kiss, and everything will be fine, and you don't actually need to hang on to your ex, and wish for a kiss from him... again I'm just guessing here. and this may not be it, and I think it's basically saying that you shouldn't hold onto the past, or look forward to the future, but live in the present moment.
Again, I apologize if this isn't really any help, but I figured I'd take a crack at your question, and tell you what I thought your dream meant. Hope this helps you at least a little bit. (:

Q: I took a pregnancy test like 2 months ago and it was positive. So, I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant here, especially since I've been having all the signs, too. Today I woke up and I had blood in my panties and I really don't feel good. I know I read some place something about women having their periods in the beginning of pregnancy sometimes. Is this blood what they mean or is something wrong?
It could be that nothing is wrong, often times women experience spotting during their pregnancy. Which is usually not a lot of blood, just small amounts.
But if it is a lot of blood and you experience cramping or discomfort there may be something wrong and you should probably go to the doctors, if anything just to be on the safe side.
I mean even if there is nothing wrong, it is best to tell your doctor about it just to be extra careful.
hope everything is okay.

Q: does anyone have experience with a torn glenoid labrum? (shoulder) i have gone to the doctor and he said mine is probably torn, but i am still playing volleyball with it...is this possible? i was just really wondering how functional my shoulder can be if my labrum is torn. is surgery necessary? my shoulder hurts & down into my bicep & tricep.
I haven't had experience with a torn "glenoid labrum" but I would imagine that if it is torn you should probably not continue playing volleyball. This could make it much worse, it could do some permanent damage, or injure your other parts of your body if you are straining them in an odd way to try and avoid using your shoulder too much. I've gotten plenty of injuries before, and one thing I know is that you should probably rest it, so it can heal. and about surgery it depends on how bad it is. in some cases if it doesn't heal on it's own after a while, you would probably need surgery. here is something i found about treatment for a torn glenoid labrum.
"Until the final diagnosis is made, your physician may prescribe anti-inflammatory medication and rest to relieve symptoms. Rehabilitation exercises to strengthen the rotator cuff muscles also may be recommended. If these conservative measures are insufficient, your physician may recommend arthroscopic surgery. An arthroscope is a miniature television camera on the end of a flexible tube that can be inserted directly into the joint through a tiny incision. The surgeon uses the broadcast images to guide his movement of miniature instruments, also inserted through tiny incisions. Because this type of surgery doesn't require a large incision, recovery time is much shorter.
During the surgery, the doctor will examine the rim and the biceps tendon. If the injury is confined to the rim itself, without involving the tendon, the shoulder is still stable. The surgeon will remove the torn flap and correct any other associated problems. If the tear extends into the biceps tendon or if the tendon is detached, the result is an unstable joint. The surgeon will need to repair and reattach the tendon using absorbable tacks, wires or sutures."
hope this helps!

Q: Im 17/f.
The other morning I woke up and my mum was like "omg look at your face! Your skin is all yellow!" I couldn't tell when I looked in the mirror but. After a day it is gone but I have noticed that when I look to the side the corners of my eyes are yellowish on the white part of my eye. And a little bit when I pull my lower lid down. My skin is no longer yellow but my eyes have been like this for about 2 days or so now.
What could this be??
well usually yellow skin indicates something wrong with the liver, so you should probably go to the doctors as soon as possible.
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/yellow_eyes/causes.htm
so yeah, my recomendation would be to go to the doctors.

Q: okay so i'm getting ceramic braces in like 3 weeks..and my mom was telling me theres a chance i will have to wear the headgear/neckgear thing...will i?? i know some people get to choose if they want to wear it at day or night..
but will i have to wear it in the day like during school?
usually now a days they only make you wear it at night.
you may not have to wear it depending on what your teeth look like, there are rubber bands that you may have to wear during the day or only at night, yet again it depends. but i mean when i had braces i was "supposed" to wear headgear, but i never did not even at night and i was supposed to wear rubber bands, but i never did, i just had to have to braces on longer.
hope this helps.

well if you brush your teeth well and use some kind of mouth wash you should be fine. but if you do have little brown spots it may be from cement. which is what happened to me. but the dentist (not orthadontist) fixed it so now my teeth look perfectly normal. hope this helps.

Q: So today was my first day of sophmore year and I woke up with a gigantic white head. Yesterday I kinda squeezed it, so hopefully I thought there would be no ugly white center. Sadly today there it was. Larger, reder and more noticeable ever. And I saw the boy i liked and waved, but I feel like people are only staring at my nose! How can I possibly get the redness to go down so its not noticable.

Well if you could get sea salt spray my friend said that it gets rid of pimples over night.
You could try to foundation and then a concealer to try and hide the redness. Try not to toch it or pop it or pick it because that will only make it more red.
hope this helped

nflammatory disorder of the colored part of the eye (iris). In the majority of cases there is no specific cause. Occasionally, iritis is just one symptom of a disease that affects other organ systems. These are called connective tissue diseases and include: rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoid , lupus , scleroderma , Behcet's disease , anklylosing spondylitis, Reiter's disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and B-27 disease. Sometimes, it is necessary to establish whether iritis/uveitis is a manifestation of one of these or some other underlying systemic disease. Your eye care provider may ask a detailed medical history, and may order a battery of tests including several possible blood tests, a chest x-ray, x-rays of the lower back, and a skin test for tuberculosis.
Treatment of iritis is often directed at finding and removing the cause of the inflammation. In addition, eye drops and ointments are used to relieve pain, quiet the inflammation, dilate the pupil, and reduce any scarring which may occur. Both steroids and antibiotics may be used. The application of hot packs may also provide relief from the symptoms of iritis. In severe cases, oral medications and injections may be necessary to treat the condition.
A case of iritis usually lasts 6 to 8 weeks. During this time, the patient must be observed carefully to monitor potential side effects from medications and any complications which may occur. Cataracts, glaucoma, corneal changes, and secondary inflammation of the retina may occur as a result of iritis and the medications used to treat the disorder.
Since iritis is an inflammation inside the eye, the condition is potentially sight threatening. Proper diagnosis and prompt treatment of iritis are essential. To minimize any loss of vision, the patient should have a complete eye examination as soon as symptoms occur. If diagnosed in the early stages, iritis can usually be controlled with the use of eye drops before vision loss occurs.
hope i helped...
