about

I'm that person that everyone calls or e-mails when they need advice. It doesn't matter the subject, they contact me. I don't give you the answer you want to hear and most of my advice is not your mother's advice, if you want your mom's advice--Go ask your mom or mother figure. If you ask a question you will always get an honest answer--note: I did not say the answer you want-- I said an honest answer. If you ask me something I have to research to answer, I will research it and provide you with the source if you ask.

i might be able to get a tattoo when i turn 16 in a few months. i've been thinking about tattoo ideas since i was 14 and i can't really come up with anything. i want something that has like a meaning, any ideas? i was thinking of either getting one on my foot, back of the neck, or under/behind my ear. no butterflies or stars please.

i'm a girl by the way. just throw any ideas out there hah thanks!

or if you know a good website that has tattoo ideas because i haven't found a good one yet.

again thanks =]

First off, a tattoo artist that has been doing them for a while and/or knows what they are doing normally will not guarantee a tattoo placed on any of the areas you are thinking of because they are harder places for the ink to stay and you will likely have to have it touched up more than other places.

We used to own a tattoo and piercing shop and my policy was no tattoos placed anywhere clothing wouldn't cover them on anyone under 21 because your ideas change and what you like changes. ANY tattoo you get should be able to be covered by clothing because you don't know what your job will be and you may have a position where tattoos are not allowed to be visible.

As for asking others what they think you should get; tattoos are a PERSONAL choice and if you want it to have meaning then you have to figure out what means something to you. If you don't know what you want and don't know what means something to you then you aren't ready for a tattoo that will be there for the rest of your life. My advice has always been to wear a temp tattoo in the place you plan to get the permanent one for a month--that way you get used to seeing something there and can decide if you really want it there.

My daughter is 17 and has two--one is a butterfly in memory of her grandmother who always said she'd paint butterflies when she got to heaven and the other she just had done Saturday is a superman symbol on her other shoulder blade because she is a superman fanatic and always has been.

Im 17 and im going to florida for 10 days to see my best friend. Im going by myelf and dont have an atm card and they dont have my bank down there so there is no way for me to get money so im gonna bring traverlers checks. Idk how much to bring though, i know were gonna to to 1 or 2 parks in orlando and we will probably go out every night idk how much shopping and stufff, so what do you think?

You can also pick up a prepaid mastercard or visa at a grocery store or pharmacy and some are even sold at Wal Mart. Your bank may even offer a traveling or reloadable credit card. Almost all places take visa or mastercard. Most of the reloadable ones also have a high load limit of like $1500 so you should be able to put more than enough money on them.

This is pretty difficult to ask, but I think I should. So, let's say you sent someone nude pictures, but you are 16, and they are 19. And then you never spoke to them again. What would you do? Because I'm worried that they'll put them on the internet, although I don't see why if I never did anything mean to them.

But if they haven't put them online, then there's nothing I can do, or want to do. I mean I really don't care if they have the pictures, only if other people do.

I'm not really sure what I'm asking by the way. But I know that if they did release them, then I could probably sue them for lots of money right? I mean at least there's a bright side? I know what I did was incredibly stupid, so I'm kind of trying to make myself feel better about it. I don't know? Just give me any advice!

In some states the person receiving the pictures could be brought up on statory rape whether you had sex with them or not. It depends on your state laws. Why are you taking nude pictures of yourself at 16? If you plan to be a porn star that's one thing but otherwise keep your clothes on in front of the camera until you are in a committed relationship.

Again if they publish the pictures it depends on the state you are in. Under 18 they can be charged on a federal level if they post them since you are under 18 and it could push the envelope for child pornography depending on if the investigating agency decided to be sticklers for the law. Legally you should have to give consent for the pictures to be used in anyway to make money but since you are under 18 you can not legally enter into a contract so your parents would have to give permission.

ok so there is a Teen Focus in my town, which i've heard is a planned parenthood type thing. if my boyfriend and i [17 & 18] go in to get tested for STDs, is it free? if not, about how much would it be? would it show up on medical bills or anything like that? do they test for EVERYTHING, or do you have to specify what you want to be tested for? also, do they just draw blood? any info would be greatly appreciated. their website doesnt give me much info =]

Normally the testing is free. Your parents are not told and no it doesn't show up on medical bills if it's free. If you use your parents insurance it does show up on statements. If you are sexually active you need to schedule a full pelvic exam and have the other tests for STDs done. You also might want to get birth control while you are there. They normally do all of that for free if you are under 18. Your BF may have to pay a small amount. Call them and ask. As for the blood testing--most HIV/AIDS tests use blood and they can also check for syphillis and other diseases with the same blood.

i want to know if

1) a septum peircing hurts, and if it does; how badly?

2) same for getting your belly button peirced.

I owned a tattoo and piercing shop for several years and yes the septum hurts. How much depends on your pain tolerance.

I had more people pass out from belly button piercings than all others combined. It's not that it hurts any worse than any other place--in fact most people said the piercing didn't hurt it was the clothing that rubbed on it after that hurt. The reason they passed out is because they could see the piercing happening and would forget to breathe and then stand up too quickly.

YES the clothing that rubs on it will bother you for a while.

ok, my friends and i have recently started going to clubs where we grind with guys and stuff. me, being the white girl i am, have NO RHYTHM haha. i can kinda sorta semi dance when im in front of a mirror and watching myself do it, but even if i take my eyes off the mirror, its like i lose cordination. i know people say just move with the music, but i feel like such an idiot because there's no rhythm in me. when i grind, its like my lower back has soo limited movement. i dont even know like.. when you grind, do you do your hips in a circular motion, or like in the "wave" kinda motion up and down? people say to watch other people and music vids and stuff. but i just cant move like that. well i kinda can, but not. at least not without a mirror hahaha. any help? and this is farfetched, but can anyone tell me how to 'vibrate'?

Maybe a good way to spend some free time would be belly dancing lessons. They teach you how to move your body and it's great exercise. You can also buy "How To" dvds online that will guide you step by step through "hip hop" lessons. Check ebay, google and amazon for instructional dance videos.

Basically, I was stabbed in the back by an ex-girlfriend long after we broke up and stayed friends. And I'm tired of being slanderized for no reason when I go out of my way to avoid her every day of my life.

So, how can I get back at her in a way that's legal, and not going to cause true harm (like pain or death)?

I know I want revenge, but I want it with honor.

The best revenge in living well. It's cliche but it's truth. My ex cheated on me with an internet chick. I left. I am now married to his bestfriend. We didn't get together until well after my ex and I separated and everyone knew it. My ex and his ex tried to say we had an affair before any of the separations which wasn't true. As hard as it was we were the bigger people and walked away.

4 years later we have 3 children, a home, good cars and a decent bank account that allows my husband to stay home and homeschool our children. His ex is living with her boyfriend who beats on her and is strung out on drugs. My ex married his internet girl who was 12 years younger than him, they live in a 2 bedroom low income apartment, drive a rattletrap and fight daily. She has gained 75 lbs since they got together. He is miserable.

Karma evens things out. Hold your head high and keep going.

There are several movies with this concept but the first one that comes to mind is "O" with Julia Stiles.

okaaay so i really want to meet someone online. that is the same age as me [sixteen] and will be literally my best friend. because a few of my friends and people i know have people like this, from all over the world, and i dont know how they met them. adding random people on myspace is not working. i want someone that is kinda like me too, and will let me tell them my secrets and stuff. is there some website like um, eharmony haha [nooot that though] but like is for teens wanting to just meet friends that they have things in common with, THAT IS NOT A SCAM and where i can actually find NORMAL people not a bunch of pervs or freaky loners...thanksss

My almost 17 year old daughter talks to a lot of people on tagged.com She says it's MySpace without all the drama.

I used to use clean and clear before and got occasional breakouts but then i switched cause my skin dried out in the winter. Now however i break out with the new product so i switched back to clean and clear and i broke out a little more than usual.
Is that okay? i know it probably is, since the treatment is trying to clear our my skin, but should i continue?

Acne treatments truly vary from person to person and no one product is perfect for everyone. We bought the ProActive for our daughter and it worked great for about a month. Clean and Clear, Oxy, Noxzema, etc all worked for a bit but then quit so I had her start doing the same thing I have done for years.

Wash your face with plain ivory soap twice a day. Before you go to bed use plain ol' rubbing alcohol on the places that you get the most breakouts or oily spots like your hairline, nose and chin. (I just do it all over) and if you have a pimple coming up, after the alcohol put toothpaste on the bump and it will either come to a head or go away. it's not recommended that you pop pimples but if you do put alcohol on them when you are done--yes it stings but only for a minute.

Okay, so I am a very unusual size, and I was just hoping to get some advice on finding something... I can't find anything unless I go out of town, and barely even then. I have a very small frame, so I'm a 32 all around, but then I'm a C cup. I'm told I'm lucky, but all I can really wear are sports bras! What is a good (and not too expensive) place to find something comfortable in my size?

Go to Victoria Secret's or Dillard's and have them "fit" you for a bra. You'd be amazed at how many women are wrong when they self measure or guess their size by what feels right. Let them fit you and they will also show you some bras that will fit correctly. Once you know your actual size you can shop anywhere. I have myself and my oldest daughter fitted every 2 years because it only takes a small amount of weight gain or loss to change your true size even if you don't notice it.

I think one of the Labias (I think thats what they're called) in my vagina is like abnoramally big. Does anyone know where i can see a picture of a vagina thats NOTT like a pornographical one...but like an anatomical one??

Thankss!!!

There is no "right" size. They are all different and they all look different. Most people's are different sizes. That is one thing you really shouldn't stress about, it's not something you can fix without surgery and even if you had surgery the only person that would realize a difference is you. I sincerely hope that you aren't in front of the mirror everyday looking at your labia and thinking, "Hmmmm, it looks bigger on the left than the right" There are so many other things to worry about.

I used to own a tattoo and piercing shop and I promise you--they are all different and none of them are "pretty or attractive" They just are. And if you are worried about a guy and what he will think--unless you're talking about something massively huge that will take a crane to get out of the way so he can get to what he wants--he won't even notice.

Does proactive really work? I know its different for certiain people but im just wondering if it worked for you. I dont have wicked bad acne but i have my breakouts. If it doesnt work for you what do you use that does work?

We bought the ProActive for my 16 year old daughter and it worked really well for about a month. Then it just stopped working. She has since started taking care of her skin the same way I do and hasn't had major breakouts in about a year.

Wash your face with plain ol' Ivory Soap. Before bed, because your face gets oily overnight, use plain alcohol. If you have a major pimple coming up put toothpaste on it before you go to bed, after the alcohol and it will either come up or go away in the morning.

im flying in a few weeks. i have layovers in dallas and santa anna. dallas ususaly has terrible weather so i am afraid that might be delyed before i get to santa anna! will they wait for me?? what will happen?? will i be stuck in texas?

If you miss your connection due to the original flight the airline will help get you on another plane.

I have missed more connections due to weather, pilot stupidity, etc and they have always helped me change my flight information. I even had an airline employee meet me at the gate one time and tell me they had already made arrangements to get me on the next flight out since I missed the one I was supposed to be on. The airline will take care of you. Your luggage may end up arriving later than you if you have to catch a different connection but they will get it to you.

My cousin is having a baby shower on Saturday. As part of everyone's gift, she wants us to each buy the baby a book and write a little message for him in it as opposed to just getting a card.

I need suggestions on what to write in the book! I want it to be cute, but something he can look at when he's older and appreciate. If it helps, the baby's name is Michael.

I'm not very creative with this stuff. I probably won't see this kid more than two or three times a year.

HELP!

Buy a book you liked as a child or still like as an adult. Put a simple message such as "Michael, I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. Love, Cousin XXX" Sometimes simple is best.

Ok, I thought doctors were supposed to be confidential. When I go to my annual check up I can't go into the room by myself, they require my mom to be there. I'm not allowed to ask her to leave. Sometimes there are some embarrassing questions I need to ask right in front of my mom.

Whats up with this? Could it be because its a pediatrician?

17/F

Once a child is past the age of 12 (in most states) the doctor is not supposed to discuss details with your parents unless you say it is okay. Meaning if you are pregnant or have a disease they can't tell your parents without your consent. I would ask your mom to please stay in the waiting room in case there is anything you want to discuss in private. Her feelings will be hurt probably or she will think you have something to hide but since you're 17 she should recognize the request as a sign of your growing up. You can also call the Dr's office and tell them that you don't want your mother in the room with you but don't want to cause a scene so could they please tell her that under the HIPAA laws she can not be in the room until after the Dr has seen you.

"Here is some general information on the HIPAA laws and the website in case you want to use it in a talk with your mom.

State laws where you live will determine how much of your child's PHI you can get through HIPAA. In many states, minors can consent to treatment and testing for STDs and alcohol and drug treatment, so parents might not be able to access these records. A Pediatrician can also restrict a parents access if they think that it will harm the child. And you can't access your own or your child's psychotherapy notes.

To protect your children's confidentiality, and enhance their relationship with their Pediatrician, you might sign an agreement that they have a confidential relationship so that you won't have access to your children's records."
