hey i am like a punk kid. and i really dont like preps very much. but my mom is like anti-punk and loves preps. and she is really into the "preppy" clothes and attitude and all that good stuff. lol. ok well thats NOT me but how do i tell her without her freaking out. i mean i want to get my tongue pierced and my ears pierced a lot. but my mom is just not understanding for my personality. people tell me "Be yourself who cares what others think" but how can you be yourself when your mother is making you another. how do i try to show my mom that i am not like her? Okay, back now. And answering your question, even if you insist on labeling everything.
Do it slowly. Next time you're shopping with her and she holds up a pink fluffy skirt and says it's adorable, just say, "Mom, that skirt really doesn't go with my style. It's not me at all."
I don't know what other stuff she'd do that goes against the punk code or whatever, but just something along those lines. Just sort of tell her that whatever she wants you do isn't something YOU want to do. Then quote her "be yourself" mantra back at her.

I have the same problem about being nervous around new people, so I know the problem.
If you're going into high school or middle school, you won't be the only new person there. Everyone will want to make friends, and all you have to do is smile, be yourself, and you'll have a great time.
Talk to someone who sits near you at the beginning and end of class. This way, you'll know some people and then you can be more confident.
Just be friendly. If someone talks to you, talk to them. If you feel too shy to initiate a conversation, take a deep breath and ask the person what their name is.

Just out of curiousity, why do you want to vote for Kerry? I'm not trying to make this an argument, I'm not like alot of those idiots who want to curse you out for what you believe in. But I read your reasons, and it appears you got alot of those beleifs of yours from the "documentary" Farenhiet 9/11. Michael Moore's film protrays Bush to be an idiot, which isn't the case at all. I know that Fahrenheit 9/11 does make some stretches, but also some good points on the Bush administration. The Patriot act, for example. The fifty-six deceits site does give the film that, among a few other things. Even many of the democrats who saw the film went in knowing that Moore would make some stretches. It's been argued that it's impossible to make un unbiased political documentary. So while Moore is biased, he makes plenty of good points. I read quite a few good articles on the film right after it came out.
Fifty-six deceits has many good points, particularly about the election. Still, George Bush did NOT win the popular vote, and the electoral vote has problems if the electoral winner can have a miniority of the votes. That and the "butterfly ballots" made the election unfair.
Even before I saw Fahrenheit 9/11, I was a democrat. So while I took some ideas from the movie, most of my arguments are based on what I have read in news.
I also dislike George Bush for giving tax cuts to those who don't need it (SUV owners and the very rich) and I don't like him for being against gay marriage and abortion. He seems to try to abolish separation of Church and State, and that bothers me.
On Iraq, I just don't think he should have gone in. US soldiers have died. A lot of them, many of them poor kids who wanted money to go to college, which was the point Moore was trying to make with Lila Lipscomb. I know people who have done that.
So my point is, I'm in the Anybody But Bush political party. I want someone for president who will disentangle us from Iraq and not run off and start another war instantly. Kerry has proved that he can be a good diplomat in his handling of the MIA problems in Vietnam. It helps that he's pro-gay marriage and pro-choice.

I don't support Bush for several reasons:
-He's a warmonger.
His first reaction after 9/11 was to go to war, kill an awful lot of civilians, and then attempt to connect Al-Queda to Iraq, sent innocent soldiers in to kill innocent civilians, causing an awful lot of death.
-Anti-Gay marriage
He's against gay and lesbian marriage. Just because a person is attracted to members of the same sex is no reason to discriminate against them.
-He's anti-abortion
I can understand being against partial birth abortion. I even have trouble with that, unless the mother's life is in danger. But abortion needs to stay legal, particularly when the mother could die or have her health severely damaged. Women own their bodies, and Bush doesn't like that.
-He's against stem-cell research.
Could save an awful lot of people. He's causing a brain-drain in America, all the good scientists are leaving.
-HE DIDN'T EVEN WIN THE ELECTION IN THE FIRST PLACE!
No matter how you count the votes, Gore won. He won both the popular vote and the electoral vote. But the supreme court stepped in before the counting was done, making Bush the winner.
Go see Fahrenheit 9/11.

My mother treats me like I'm 5. I can't shop wherever i want to. She tries to hold my hand while crossing the street and at the mall. I needed new underwear and there were thongs and then granny underwear. She handed me the granny underwear!!! I told her I wasn't wearing them and then she was like, "Ok we're leaving here then." try to do your shopping yourself. are there any other family members or friends you can go with? show that you're responsible by making a list of what you need.
tell her that sometimes you feel like she treats you like a little kid and that you don't like it. be nice, don't yell, but don't put up with it either.

I don't htink there IS a number.
I suspect that you're already a level 1 (avg. rating of 4.0 or higher)
There are only four or five level 2 moderators at any one time. When one leaves, a level 1 moderator is selected according to good advice and the like.
There is only 1 level 3 moderator, and as far as I know, she created Advicenators.

Talk to someone you trust. If you don't think your parents can take it, talk to a friend first.
When you want to cut, try to distract yourself. Watch TV, read a book, play on the internet.
You should talk to a therapist. You need to tell your parents and they can see about finding you someone to talk to.

It doesn't hurt TOO much pain when they get put on, but your mouth feels really odd. Get some food RIGHT after you eat them, because the pain starts to kick in later that day and keeps on pretty strong for the next couple days before it starts to go away. Be sure to take painkillers.

I've had people think I was Gothic before, and it never bothered me. When people ask you if you're a goth, just shrug and tell them that you just like to wear black.
If they persist in bugging you about being goth, it's best not to get too angry at them. If you make them feel a little stupid, though, they deserve it.
If it REALLY bothers you, dress differently for a short time, or do an every-other-day program where you dress how you want to dress one day, then just wear jeans and a tee shirt the next day. Do this for a while, until people get the message, at which point you can go back to your normal clothing preferences.

You could also try writing a round robin story. That's when one of you starts the first few paragraphs of a story and the other one continues the next few paragraphs and then gives it back to you and so on and so forth.
Play truth or dare. Or just truth. That's always fun.
Hang out outside, if you have a yard, or on the balcony if you don't. It's fun to watch people and wave at them.
Think about the characters in your favorite tv shows, movies, and books, and discuss the best pairings (slash is FUN!) and which characters you most resemble.
Play board games, if you have them. Make up new rules.

Depends on the story. For fantasy go for unusual, exotic names. Make them up yourself! You can find names on BabyNameCenter.com, which has an entire section on unusual names.
Here are some of my favorite names for girls:

Kinsey
with fantasy, it's fun to take normal names and spell them oddly. Like Maddilynn instead of Madeline, or combine two names, like Natalyn made out of Natalie and Madeline. You can also change them in minor ways, like Brianni instead of Brianna.

I discovered a dimensional rift under my bed sometime last year. It was never a problem until just recently it began to suck in my left socks I left on the floor. In exchange for them, it deposits lady bugs in my room. The bills for my black cotton footwear are starting to add up and I can no longer stand the sight of lady bugs. If you can't get a hold of her due to jail time, catch the lady bugs and sell them. Many people use them to rid their gardens of aphids. With the money you make, you can buy new socks.

-The internet. It is a wonderful place. Browse this site, or find another. Jokes are usually amusing (jokes.com) or you can often find movie scripts (dailyscript.com, simplyscripts.com) or you can spend hours reading webcomics (keenspace.com, onlinecomics.net). I recomment noneedforbushido.com, errantstory.com, sluggy.com, or sgvy.com. There are lots out there that are fun to read. Quizzes (quizilla.com) are also good.
-Read. It's good. Go to the library or look through your books at home. Fantasy books are usually interesting. I recommend The Black Swan, by Mercedes Lackey, Blood and Chocolate, by Annette Klause, or Sabriel, by Garth Nix. If you don't like fantasy, Sue Henry is a good author.
-Cook. Cooking is quite fun, actually. If you have a chocolate cake mix lying around, you can make great cookies by adding 1/3 cup canola oil and two eggs and cooking them at 350° for eight to ten minutes. They're very easy, and they don't make too much of a mess. You can also look through cook books and on the sides of packages.
-Write. You can write poetry or fiction. Fanfiction is good too, because there isn't the same pressure to make it good. You can find challenges online like writing a dialogue starting with "Martha, where did you put the poodle."

Hmmm . . .
You could start a project at home like writing a story, drawing a comic, or something along those lines, depending on your interests.
Since you don't want to join a class without your friends, you could talk to one of them and try to find a class that you can both join.
Or just take the plunge and join a class all by yourself!
