this morning I stopped behind a car at a red light. I looked away and must have taken my foot off the break and bumped into him. I have a half square shaped dent, it's not anything bad. I had hit the square attachment to his suv that is used to haul things. (I guess that's it's use) however. police were called and info was exchanged, the usual. the cop noted that there was NO VISIBLE DAMAGE to his car and I did have a minor dent. my questions is will my insurance rates rise? the officer said that if the man decides to have his car looked at there is a small fee my insurance would pay. will that raise my rates? I'm 17. so I'm worried. (link)
|
It really depends on your policy. However, one thing you could do to prevent your rates from going up would be to pay for any claims out-of-pocket. You don't have to let your insurance cover the damage; you can pay for it with your own money.
If you were ticketed as at-fault in the accident, then that might raise your rates - again, it depends on your policy. But for something this minor, it shouldn't raise them much. If it does, you can always shop for different insurance and get a better rate.

I walked into famous footwear today, it being tax free weekend it was packed. I couldnt tell where the line began it actually looked like everyone was still shopping so I just got behind the person that was paying, I was there for about a minute and then this lady taps me on the shoulder and says "um, excuse me theres a line." I turn around and theres probably a line of about 50 to 100 people. I automatically felt embaressed its one thing to cut one person but to cut 100 is a different story, I apologized and then walked out of the store embaressed. What would you be thinking if you were one of the people in the line, I want honest answers! (link)

If I'd been in the line, I'd have figured you made a simple mistake that anyone could have done, and then given it no further thought.

if someone has hooked up a camera in your bedroom do they have to watch it from that household (i live in a house) or could that person watch it from someone elses house? I need to know that way I know where to look for the hookup! (link)
|
Well, technically speaking, you would watch a hidden camera from anywhere. Heck, we've sent cameras to Neptune before.
On a practical level, the only way someone could set up a hidden camera and watch it at a distance is to make use of the internet. It would need to be hooked up to a computer on your end, and while it's easy to hide the camera, hiding the computer is not so easily done. There may also be a way to do it with a smartphone, but you'd have to have someone who was willing to just leave a $300 smartphone in your bedroom and hope you don't spot it, plus it would have to be plugged into a power source so its battery didn't run down in a day or two.
Can it be done? Yes. Is it likely? Not unless you've given the FBI reason to suspect you of something.

Hi so I'm a fifteen year old female and within the past few months or so I've been having really awful nightmares and I think what makes them so awful is that I am bloody convinced they are real. I'll give some examples. I don't know if this happened in real life or on a dream but I had a conversation with my mother about my underpants and i can't for the life of me figure out if it really happened or not. Also in another dream I was indeed trying to figure out if I was dreaming or not so I'd pinch my self to see if it hurt or not but I couldn't tell if it did for not. It was kind of like my mind made me think it hurt just so i wouldn't figure out it was a dream. But the pinching aspect also frightens me for this reason: I've been told I talk in my sleep which makes me think what if I am performing these actions like pinching myself in my sleep and not realizing it? That's scary because sometimes I feel like i am screaming in my sleep. I woke up this morning knowing I was in real life again and pinched myself just because and I was almost convinced I didn't feel anything even though I knew for fact i was awake. Maybe it's because. I feel like my life has been changing and I like that it has because i feel different. But I think deep down I always knew there was something a little wrong with me so could it be a sign of some disorder or something? What do you think? (link)
|
I would suggest you see a counselor, or if that is impractical, check a book about lucid dreaming out of the library. There are ways in which you can learn to gain a certain degree of control over your dreams, and teach your brain to recognize when it IS a dream and allow you to wake up from it.
Remember that dreams originate within our own minds, and it is therefore possible to generate signs or clues which will tell you when you are dreaming. One way I've heard that it can be done is to pick an easily recognizable object which you wouldn't see in real life - say, a miniature elephant. Over time, you can actually train your own brain to insert this object into your dreams, and when you see it, you will know that you must be dreaming. I don't actually know the technique, but I've heard it can be done.
One very simple thing you can do is to keep a book by your bedside, any book at all, even the phone book will do. Then, when you wake up from a dream and want to test and make sure you're really awake, pick up the book and try to read some of it. Ever notice that you can never read anything when you're dreaming? It's because that part of the brain is shut down during REM sleep. If you can read a paragraph, you're *definitely* awake. It's much more certain than the pinch-test.
I doubt that it is a sign of a disorder. You probably just have very intense visual dreams. That can be a good thing if you can manage to change them into dreams which are more entertaining. And I think that we all have that feeling, deep down, that there's something wrong with us; some people are just better at hiding it.
One other thing - some medications can cause this sort of thing as a side effect, particularly antidepressants. If you're on something like that, then there's your explanation.

how can you tell if you have a pink topaz or a pink sapphire?
(link)
|
Sapphire is harder than topaz, a 9 vs. an 8 on the Mohs hardness scale. The problem with testing it that way is that you'd need a known sample an 8-hardness mineral to try and scratch with it, which you probably don't have; minerals harder than 7 tend to be rare gemstones.
Take it to a jeweler. They can examine it closely and measure such properties as its light refraction and such, and make a positive identification.

I need help with
-is it a good idea
-is it original
-is it interesting
Please read these plots and tell me
1- a zombie goes on an epic journey to find his cookie after it is stollen by a bird and goes through many hardships but in the end dies after he gets the cookie
2- a child gets a computer for her birthday but it is possessed by the spirit of a pedophile, her parents don't notice it's trying to suck her in, she breaks it
Sorry they're not specific :) thank you (link)
|
I have to say, the first one sounds like random words thrown into a story-generate-a-tron. In any event, if he's a zombie, isn't he already dead? Just saying.
The second idea has potential as a suspense/thriller, but it would have to be written very carefully, and bear in mind that a lot of people will hate the story simply because the idea is hard to stomach. I can think of two plot holes which you would need to resolve (and this isn't a criticism - ALL story ideas have plot holes that need resolving!)
#1: Online pedophilia is a very real problem. Most parents know this. The parents of your main character would have to be pretty callous not to take their child seriously if he/she complains of something like that. I can tell you that if MY child complained that there was a pedophile spirit in her computer, I wouldn't believe that - but I sure as hell WOULD believe that there was SOMETHING going on, and I'd get to the bottom of it!
#2: Why wouldn't the child simply stop using the computer? Also, why not just unplug it rather than smash it?
One more thing to bear in mind - if you want to write a convincing story, you will need to do some research on the topic. This will NOT be a pleasant task! By no means am I suggesting that you seek out actual online child predators - that would be very dangerous indeed, especially if you actually are a minor. However, there are websites which combat online pedophiles, and some of them have transcripts of their sting operations. Some of it is literally the most disturbing stuff I've ever read in my life - and not in any kind of good way.
If you want to do any kind of story about a spirit which takes over a computer, try seeing the movie "Electric Dreams". It's a fairly cheesy 80's flick, but it might give you some ideas. It's not about an evil presence in a computer; more like a benign childlike one which is simply curious. But it might give you some ideas on how to handle certain parts of the story.

I'm sure many of you have come across websites where you can take free surveys to get points for certain things.
I noticed all the free ones require adresses and credic card numbers and phone numbers.
My dad hates putting our credic card number online and I'm aafraid we'll get charged for something anyway?
Are there any fake legit addresses, credic card numbers, and phone numbers for purposes like this? (link)
|
Follow your dad's advice on this one. If it's free, why do they need your credit card number? Answer: because it's not free. Or at least it won't stay that way.
Posting your personal information online in an attempt to get free stuff is an open invitation to identity theft. It's a very bad idea.

I don't mean to sound stupid but I'm curious if zombies are actually real to some extent. I'm not talking about the "zombies" you see in movies and on the television though that are after brains (or should I say "brraaainnsss!"). I also don't mean an actual invasion of zombies that tends to be the basis on many movies. I'm just talking about the walking dead, I suppose. Is there a such thing as the walking dead? Are there real incidences of zombies or A zombie? Any proof to back up a zombie theory? Just curious, really... (link)
|
Medical science has only recently reached the point where we can pretty definitively tell the difference between someone who really is dead and someone who is in a deep coma. For most of human history, one couldn't always tell for sure, and there have been well-documented instances of people "rising from the dead". Such people were probably disoriented, confused, or perhaps even driven mad because they woke up and found themselves in a coffin or morgue. Of course, they weren't really rising from the dead, because they weren't actually dead in the first place, but people could be forgiven for having thought they were.
Anyway, that's probably where the whole idea of zombies got started, and that's the limit of their basis in fact.

So, I shoplifted the other day. Not anything huge, just some earrings from American Eagle and a shirt from Forever 21. They didn't have an ink tag or anything, just a price tag with a barcode, which I ripped off. I didn't do it because I don't have money, but I will admit, I don't like to just blow my money. I have a shopping addiction and I can't afford to buy every single thing in the store. I saw it as an easy solution. I hid them under clothes to take in the dressing room, so the attendant saw no difference. But my question is, are there security cameras in the dressing room.. is that even legal ? Or what are others ways I could get caught ?
(And please PLEASE do not tell me about how shoplifting is wrong. I don't have a guilty conscience about it, and I'm going to continue to do it.) (link)
|
Ever heard of an RFID tag? It's about half the size of a grain of rice, and it's the future in anti-theft technology. The stores don't need cameras to catch you if they employ these little gizmos - and they won't be advertising it when they start using them. Forget the security tags - these things are small enough to fit in an earring back. The point is, no matter how clever you are, you will get caught eventually.
I really don't know what kind of advice you expect to get here. No one is going to cheerfully ignore the fact that you're a thief, and help you to commit more crimes. The advice I have for you is to quit while you're ahead. I'd have a few other things to say as well, but I suspect it would all be ignored, so I'm not going to bother.
|
I'm doing a report for school so please don't say "we can't answer this or else we will banned". I'm not planning on doing it I just need facts for my report. Is it true that cigarettes and weed fill you up therefore you're not hungry anymore? (link)
|
Nicotine is a stimulant, and generally stimulants do have the effect of reducing hunger. They also have another effect in that people will often snack during the day when they aren't particularly hungry; those who smoke cigarettes will generally smoke instead of snack, so they don't consume those calories. The health benefits of eating less are far outweighed by the hazards of smoking, but I'm guessing you know that.
As the previous responder pointed out, marijuana will actually make you MORE hungry. One of the purposes of "medicinal marijuana" is to help those on strong chemotherapy to be able to eat.

Hi! this is kind of an odd question but, I'm a 15yo female and I was wondering do guys mind pubic hair?
Like, is it normal to shave it all off down there? Do guys prefer that? Or does it not matter. I'm kinda worried cause if I'm ever in a situation, i wouldn't want the guy to be grossed out by tons of hair!? Thanks in advance! (link)
|
First of all, and I hate to be the voice of prudence, but it has to be said: you're 15. Moral issues aside, it's actually illegal for a guy to be in a position with you where your pubic hair would matter. 15 is below the age of sexual consent.
That having been said, it's definitely something that varies among guys. The best thing is to do what is comfortable for you. Shaving to suit your guy is definitely something you would do only well after you've established your sexual relationship - and I do hope you're on the far side of 18 years old by then.

ok i have two questions
i was wondering if ghosts are real.
please provide me with the correct answer, im getting so many different ones.
and the second one is that show 'most haunted' real?
explain them both please because im really confused (link)
|
There is not one single shred of genuine, scientific evidence that ghosts are real. I have never heard of any in-depth ghost investigation conducted in an objective and thorough manner which did not reach a conclusion which was entirely natural (as opposed to supernatural). There is plenty of anecdotal evidence, of course, but that is simply not reliable.
Ghosts are a product of human imagination, caused by our natural fear of death, our wishful thinking for life beyond death, and our fascination with the paranormal.
They are not real. I cannot prove that statement, but to assume that ghosts ARE real is to ignore both rationality and strong evidence.

My digital camera has volcanic ash in it (don't ask, it was a camping trip) and now it won't work. The kind of camera I have is the kind where the lens in hidden inside the camera, but when you turn it on it appears. Well know, it will appear then (almost) go back in again. If that makes sense.
Is there a place I can take it to get that dust out. I really miss using my camera =(
Thank you (link)
|
Volcanic ash is essentially powdered glass. It's about the nastiest, grittiest, most damaging substance you can get into sensitive equipment. Your camera is probably toast, unfortunately.
If you take it to a camera repair shop, they MIGHT be able to fix it - for about the same cost as replacing it, most likely, and if I were them I wouldn't offer any guarantees. So, since you're probably going to have to replace it anyway, you might try taking it apart yourself and blowing the dust out with compressed air. Then, unless you're very very very lucky, go out and buy a new camera.
|
Ok, so the school i go to has a bathroom with stall doors that big spaces where the hinges are and people can see through them at you. Obviously when they built them, they just made the doors like that. But anyways, me and all my friends are really self concious about that. What should we do? (link)
|
You might try writing a (politely phrased) letter to the school principal, asking if it would be possible to glue up rubber strips to the sides of the doors so that that gap would be covered. If you really want to make it happen, do a little research for him and figure the cost of the weatherstripping and the glue to hold it on by making a trip to Home Depot. You'll also want to put in there something about how you understand that a school budget is always tight, but that this would be a small thing that would do a lot to increase the comfort level of the students. You could even offer to do the actual labor yourselves, though there may be district rules that forbid that.
Maybe you'll get a reply to the effect that nothing can be done. In that case, the previous responder's suggestion regarding jackets might be your best bet.

where and what has kendra wilkinson modeled for? (link)

It took me exactly five seconds to do a Google search on "Kendra Wilkinson" and find hundreds of references with all the information you might want. My advice to you is to try that.

if i were to purchase an anti-nazi t-shirt, and wore it out, would i get dirty looks off people? like in the street, from ordinary people, not nazi's? (link)
|
It strikes me that wearing an anti-Nazi shirt would be kind of like holding up a sign that says, "I don't like to be kicked in the neck." It's kind of taken for granted that a person feels that way unless they specifically state otherwise.
I wonder why you would bother. It's not like there's a need to raise awareness about the Nazi problem; most people are pretty much on the same page with it already. If you have a personal problem with Nazism, such as a family member who was victimized by them, then there's probably a more constructive way to express it than by wearing a T-shirt.
Furthermore, the only people who ARE going to respond to your T-shirt are the ones who are offended by it; that is, those who actually are Nazis or something similar. This is not a group of people known for kindness and reason. Certainly we should not submit to such groups as the Nazi Party when we are threatened by them, but really, why tease the animals?
By wearing such a shirt, you would basically be pissing off any Nazi you might meet, and galvanizing them to take action. I guess I just don't see the point.

After many people have told me that I should keep doing what I am doing, (posing as a 13 year old girl on chat sites, tracking and logging potential sexual predators), I have decided to keep doing it.
I even started a website about it, and I modeled it after, perverted-justice.com. On my site, I show the chat conversations and I give the predator's MSN screen name.
Some people have told me it's wrong to give out these people's MSN addresses. Someone even said I could get into a lot of trouble, or arrested for it. But shouldn't I be allowed to put potential predator's screen names up to warn people? They're the ones that started talking to an alleged 13 year old. What do you think? (link)
|
There's something important to consider here.
It is entirely possible to take a registered domain name and look it up on any number of databases, and find out not only exactly who owns it, but the owner's home address and phone number as well. I say this because it's entirely possible that you may "out" a very dangerous person someday, and they may choose to retaliate.
If you want to do some good against online predators, team up with a site like perverted-justice and work with them, not on your own. People can do more good against this sort of thing when they work together.

Well I know what shallow is, but i wanted a real good definitions and some examples and situations of shallowness. and how shallow peopel act. Im not sure if im shallow or not. - thanks. (link)
|
Shallow people tend to have the following characteristics:
(1) They are self-interested, and disinterested in that which does not directly affect them.
(2) They are uneducated and out of touch with that which really matters; most of what they know and talk about is unimportant and frivolous.
(3) They sneer at people with genuine depth of character.
(4) They often pursue popularity for its own sake.
(5) They value unimportant qualities in other people, such as physical appearance or unearned social standing.

im hanging out with my boyfriend tomorow
i just got glasses (i normally wear contacts)
ive never worn them around him, and so we'll prob make out
so during it am i supposed to wear them or not (link)
|
Go ahead and wear the glasses if you want to, and take them off before making out. Make sure to put them down somewhere that they won't get smashed.
It's worth mentioning that glasses can sometimes (often) be an attractive accessory. The purpose of removing them is not to improve your appearance, but to protect from damage a $100-plus investment.
|
ok so thanks, lets say a girl wanted to get you back. what would she have to say to make you feel bad for treating her so badly, and breaking up with her? like what would you wnat her to say? what words would you want her to say so that you will be able to forgive her. ok thnaks! (link)
|
Two things spring to mind as I read your question:
One - the fact of the matter is that what you can say to get a guy back depends ENTIRELY upon the circumstances of your breakup. There is a world of difference between a couple that breaks up because they're bored with each other and a couple that breaks up because someone is cheating. There is no way to give you generalized advice that will work under your particular circumstance.
Two - even if there were magic words you could say, do you really want a guy to take you back out of pity or self-loathing? That's a relationship doomed to a second, even more painful failure.
