I am the Turc, formally known as Kristin. I helped start this website, what seems like many years ago! Woo!

I'm a college sophomore, music ed major (all of the academics-relationship-extracurriculars-applying to college-switching your major-stuff), a musician, and a hardcore music fanatic. I am very quirky. I love Disney movies. I love giving advice. I also love reading, writing, movies, music, computers, piano, etc etc. I'm very honest, up front, and even blunt about some things. I'm pretty opinionated, but I know when to shut up. I like playing football and watching PSU football, as well as basketball, volleyball, and baseball in general. I know lots of stuff and like sharing my knowledge, and I tutor, so I'm all for the helping people with homework thing. :)

Go ahead and ask me questions... I'll do my best!

I have to play the piano in front of about 100 people in like, three hours, and I'm leaving in twenty minutes because I have to be there early. Anyway, I've done it before, but I was like ten so I didn't care what I sounded like. I have the song memorized and I'll still have the music in front of me, I've played it a zillion times, but I am INCREDIBLY nervous. I'm naturally a nervous person. My stomach is already in knots and when I think about it my palms sweat. The last time I played, I tried to be loud and my fingers and hands were so sweaty they slipped off the keys. Any experiances or help?

OH! I can give good advice about this. I used to get terrible stage fright and then, as dumb as it sounds, I read a book. It's called "The Inner Game of Music," and it's actually really good. What always calms me down is giving myself permission to be nervous, as stupid as it seems. Like, if your hands are sweaty, tell yourself (mentally) that they have PERMISSION to be sweaty, and then you won't worry about it anymore. There's a lot more stuff about breathing and crap, but it's a good book. Read it.

Hey, I play the double bass, and I was wondering if anyone here knew where to get some good music scores from anime or other movies. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! (link)
Try www.sheetmusicplus.com . I don't know how much music they have for double bass, but I always go there for music. Try typing "music scores anime movies double bass" into a search engine, entering as many particulars as you want... sites with more matching words found will show up. Good luck, and have fun! Yay for music people! :)

Who's better?
Britney or Christina (link)
Christina. She can actually sing.

It makes me sad, because when you see early tapes of Britney she has a good voice, but she's obviously not using it in her more recent work. :-P

Okay, I'm going on eight years of playing the clarinet, and I still have the same clarinet. I've heard that Buffet clarinets are really good, and I haven't really heard much of any other brands. Does anyone know a really good brand that's fairly inexpensive, as I'm on a limited budget? I don't want to ask the people at work (I work in a music store) because they're most likely to want a profit from it, and will tell me that anything is good. I thoroughly despise ANYTHING Yamaha, as they mass produce everything that they make and don't take as much time and care with any of it, as far as I can tell. Any suggestions?

Selmers are good, but unfortunately my Selmer clarinet has cracked like 3 times. I have quite a few friends with Selmers and none of theirs have cracked in the time they've had them, and so I think I just may have gotten a bad make.

Yep. You're crazy.

I never understood the whole "become obsessed about a band" thing, because yeah they're good, but why?

Who Likes GoodCharlotte. .

Who Likes Simple Plan

Who Likes Bowling For Soup!

I LIKE THEM ALLLLL! (link)
Ooook......

I like Simple Plan, but I'm not one of the pop-culture "wow-everyone-else-is-listening-to-them-so-I-will-too" people. I've liked them since the end of 2001 when no one knew they existed and everyone was like "Simple Whaaa?"

So yeah.

The musical director at my theatre company has asked everyone who plays an instrument to bring it with them to the next rehearsal. I travel to rehearsals on the bus so I'm not sure whether I should. The cello doesn't belong to me but to the County music service although the case is my own( it's a hard case at least). The cello is on my Household Insurance.

Do you think I should bring it or not? I have been specifically asked to bring it because there is a shortage of bass instruments. (link)
Since you travel on a bus and you have a hard case, you could take it on the bus. If you don't want to take it on the bus, talk around to people that drive and see if someone would be willing to pick you up and take you along.

Ok, I play guitar..I have a guitar (always comes in handy), an amp and an fx pad. Answer this! What should I ask for when Christmas comes round? (link)
A keyboard!
