Clarinet Okay, I'm going on eight years of playing the clarinet, and I still have the same clarinet. I've heard that Buffet clarinets are really good, and I haven't really heard much of any other brands. Does anyone know a really good brand that's fairly inexpensive, as I'm on a limited budget? I don't want to ask the people at work (I work in a music store) because they're most likely to want a profit from it, and will tell me that anything is good. I thoroughly despise ANYTHING Yamaha, as they mass produce everything that they make and don't take as much time and care with any of it, as far as I can tell. Any suggestions?

If you're looking for a wood clarinet that is not so 'pricey' check out the LeBlanc Galaxy (which is like $650) or the Buffet E-11 ($620). Personally, I like Yamaha products in that the intonation on their instruments is quite consistent. But we all have our preferences :-)
If you're looking for a plastic clarinet, many people seem to like Selmer and Vito. ]
Selmers are good, but unfortunately my Selmer clarinet has cracked like 3 times. I have quite a few friends with Selmers and none of theirs have cracked in the time they've had them, and so I think I just may have gotten a bad make. ]
Okay in the 5th grade I played the clarinet aswell. I believe mine was a "vito". It was a great clarinet and my older sister used it too. They may not be selling those though. So I would suggest going to your nearest music store, "music time". And ask for their best brand name.
