Q: m/15
Hi,
I saw that you knew about vocal chords so I want to ask you this question:
Is it normal for a 15 year old boy (going onto sixteen) to produce a note which hits the top end of the panio, even though he doesn't take singing lessons? I only ask because I can and I was wondering whether that it's normal. It doesn't crack at all when it reaches the note and I don't force it out. It just 'pops' out.
My voice has broken, but I can still do it, and sometimes can get higher on good days. Nobody in my family has got much a singing voice, except maybe my grandmother who apparently had some musical talent.
Thanks.

I oughta know something about vocal chords, I started college as a vocal performance major. ^_^
Actually, that's quite exceptional and cool. Most guys can hit some decently high notes in falsetto in or slightly above the staff, but anything more than that is a squeak.
Did you actually mean the top note of the piano, or the octave below that, or...? 'Cause if you meant the top note of the piano, you beat me, even, and that's really impressive, 'cause I can sing my flute pieces.
Did you mean your voice has already changed? If not, you might lose that note when it does. If so, then wow, you've got some falsetto range.
I know a bass who could hit the C above the (treble) staff - but it was kind of a squeak. He followed me up the scale when I was practicing one day, it was pretty funny. ^^
Yeah, my dad can't carry a tune in a bucket, and my mom was a pianist - no one in my family has singing talent either and I've won all but two competitions I entered. Lol
If you're good, you might wanna consider lessons. They can make you even better.

Yeah I meant the top not of the piano and it comes out in a full sound, it doesn't sound like a squeak. Some people at my school said it was kinda like Mariah Carey, but not as high!! I didn't know what to think then!!! My voice has already broken (I've been able to do it for a good 4+ years). Thanks for your help!!

I'm a laid-back 26 year old with a Psychology BA, starting my MA program, and working my way into the field as quickly as I can. It took me an extra Bachelor's degree (in vocal performance and creative writing) to figure it out, but I was put on this Earth to help, to heal, and to love.
I have made the decision to dedicate my life and career to helping others. I am here to do just that.
I've been a member since 2004, and since I signed up, I've gone through quite a lot and learned quite a lot from it. I'm here to give guidance where I had none; no one should have to go through the difficulties I went through alone.
