painters have like different periods like the blue period is depression and sadness and stuff. but is the red period when they're happy or angry?

Angry.

Blue = Depression/Sadness [as you stated]
Green = [most likely] Envy
Yellow = Happy, Joyful

That's really all I can think of, but red is commonly placed under the 'angry' category.
