well, a friend of mine is a ddr expert and she is able to do those tricks by memorizing the steps through a step chart for a specific song on this website: http://www.ddrfreak.com/stepcharts/stepcharts.php

The cool thing is that she was able to do a whole song backwards without looking at the screen and she would have a high score. so you kinda have to create a routine for yourself, in order for you to do the spins and turns.
