I'm sorry, but the concept of a song being "in" is completely lost on me.

EDIT: Sorry I was so snarky up there. Yeah, don't listen to your friend. Like the songs that you like. A song can't really go out of fashion...you can get sick of it, but y'know, I still listen to the Spice Girls. Sorry...again.
