In your opinion (meaning that if you tell me what you think you'll get a 5), do you think that people should miss out on church in order to do yardwork, study for an exam, play in a soccer tournament, etc? I just want to know what qualifies as an acceptable excuse for not going to church. What other good reasons are there for missing church? -no I'm not trying to avoid going to church-

A good excuse for missing church in whose eyes? God's not going to say -- "YOU MISSED CHURCH! Now I must shoot you with a lightning bolt." But with parents...
- Playing in a soccer tounrament. Usually practice isn't a good enough excuse.
- yardwork - not good enough. The yard will be there when you get home.
- Study for an exam - not good enough [at least for my parents]. If I had something to study for, I should've already done it.
- Sick. Obviously, if you are sick, you don't need to go to church.
- Hurt physically. IE - broken arm, leg, sprained ankle, pulled tendons etc. If you're in a lot of physical pain, you're not going to be able to pay attention to church.
I know a girl who always says that she "was out late" or "went to bed late" or her "alarm didn't go off" or she's "really tired," so she doesn't go to church. I don't think those are proper excuses. There've been times when I wouldn't get home until 12:30 AM and not go to bed until after 1:00 AM and still be at church bright and early at 8:45 for Sunday School. It doesn't really matter if you're tired, or went to bed late, or stayed out late, because that's more than likely your own fault. Sometimes you're drug around with your parents, but if they're going to go to church, you should too.
