I wear makeup to hide ugly scars on my face. With my makeup on no one ever knows that I have them. Only my family has ever seen me without my makeup. My boyfriend of one year is getting fed up with me. He cant accept the fact that he cant see me as sporadically as he'd like. When he comes over unannounced I make him wait 10 or 20 mins while I fix myself up. He says that he loves me no matter what.. and yet he is always saying the best thing about me is my beauty. Should I reveal to him how I truly look and risk losing him? Or save face and let him be upset? (link)

Does he know about the scars?
If not, one day, tell him. Invite him over, don't have on makeup. Show him each of the scars, and how the scar came to be. Tell him that you realize that the scars aren't as "lovely" as he may wish, but you are an excellent makeup artist.
I'm sure he'll love you with the scars.
I have a scar on my face too - though nothing as drastic as yours sound. Mine is one small scar, about 3 milimeters long, in the corner of my left eye [starting at the crease where the top and bottom lids meet and going towards my hairline]. Sometimes I take the time to cover it up; it may be small, but I notice it a lot. When I'm angry, or upset, or if I've been crying, it shows a lot.
I bet you're beautiful with the scars. Wait, I KNOW you're beautiful with the scars. Scars are only skin deep; beauty goes down the the soul.
