You should talk to him about it even if he gets pissed off at you. Tell him that not only that he is hurting himself that he is scaring you and it hurts you emotionally knowing that he does this to himself. Also, tell and show him that you care for him and that you'll always be there to help him. and ask him why he is cutting himself and ask him to quit just for you.
