Depression is not 'extremely sad'; the medical diagnosis is a complete lack of feeling - that's why depressed people cut, to feel something again. I am a counsellor and have just spent a year specialising in childhood depression at Uni, so I think I'd know. She isn't even 'extremely sad'. We've spent years 'being there for her' and she doesn't even notice or care. Her best friend is DYING and she doens't care.
