what are all the color of eyes out there? like specific shades or w/e. is purple one of them?

Purple is not a possible color, though some shades of brown can look a bit purple. Here's a complete list of the possibilities:

whats the difference between blu ray and hd dvds and what dvds do i have now? i wanna say theyre the normal kind but i dont know what that is.

You have the normal DVDs.

Hd-dvd is a standard promoted mainly by Microsoft, blu-ray is a standard promoted mainly by Sony. Blu-ray is technically superior, but that doesn't mean it will win the "format war"(just like betamax was superior, but lost to VHS). Blu-ray seems to be winning at the moment; they're selling more players and videos, and blockbuster recently announced they would only rent blu-ray disks(and DVDs, but not hd-dvds). If you don't have an HD TV, these are mostly useless to you. If you do, I would wait to see which format wins. If you absolutely need to buy a player for one right now, go with blu-ray.

HD-DVD holds 15GB(about 20 low-quality movies), Blu-ray holds 25GB(about 35). Each can have multiple layers, which in the end could hold every file on your computer.

At the moment HD-DVD players are around $400, blu-ray players are around $600.

A *blank* HD-DVD disk is around $9/each, blu-ray at $11/each.

Movie disks on each format are around the same price, about 2x more than regular DVDs.

This keyboard is called "Advanced Media" or something similar. It has a number of easy buttons to access programs, folders, or websites, a volume control/mute "media center", and zoom-in/zoom-out buttons. Several months ago, however, it developed some odd quirks. For ex., it would no longer use the number pad to create symbols and foreign letters (like Alt+0169 for copyright, or Alt+0189 for 1/2).

Then an even stranger thing happened: it would not print the quotation marks, like ' and ", UNLESS a space was added afterward. I know it's the keyboard, because it does this in all situations, like Word, WordPerfect, Explorer, Gmail, and online, such as I just did above.

I've reinstalled the keyboard from the CD, and I've searched for, but not found, any solutions. I'm coming to the conclusion that there is a physical problem.

If it were dirt, maybe it could be cleaned, but the two totally different malfunctions lead me to think that the keyboard has simply lost it. I can compensate, but does this sound like I need a new keyboard? And if Logitech isn't reliable (I also use their trackball) what keyboard is likely to be better?

BTW I have XP Pro.

Thanks,

zajal

Go to start, then run. Type:

intl.cpl

Go to the "languages" tab. Click "details". Under "installed services", ADD "US"(not US-international, or US-dvorak), then REMOVE any other layouts. This will probably fix the quote issue. I'm not sure if it will fix the ALT issue, and I don't know how to if it doesn't. This is probably a fluke, and not related to your new keyboard at all. It's certainly not a physical issue. I use logitech a lot, and there isn't any better brand that I can think of. Good luck!

I used to have Flock as my main browser.
Suddenly, it doesn't work for myspace. I'm just wondering why though. I can go to any other page but myspace.

I can try to log in but it stays on the main page.

How can I fix this?

**I'm not informed when you add info, and you're not informed when I edit, so please send a private question if you need a response. Please tell me(in a private question) exactly what happens when you try to login**

You probably have javascript disabled. Go to tools>options, then content. Make sure "enable javascript" is checked. Otherwise, clear *all* private data. Tools>clear private data. If it still doesn't work, you can do one of two things:
-Use the IE tab extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419
-Login here instead of the main page:

Are there any statistics or like a precentage on how many of the advicenators are female and how many male? Or like, how many of the questions asked here are asked by girls and how many by guys? Cause it seems to me that every single question on here is asked by a girl, so I just wanted to know. Thanks!

You're not required to give your gender, so there aren't any stats like that. My guess is 80% of all questions are asked by girls, and 70% of advicenators users are girls. This is because, in our culture, guys are raised to not ask for help from anyone, and guys don't want to answer the kinds of questions asked by girls. I'm sure Yahoo Answers and other knowledge market sites have similar statistics for this reason. I'm only here because there is a demand for computer knowledge that isn't being supplied by anyone else.

Why is it that only the 3rd link you gave me works?

Does that mean that I have to keep typing that in order for me to access the website?

I'm not really sure why only that one would work, I assumed they all would :/ . I included that one because you said individual files(/qview.php,/index.php) worked. This is a very strange problem. I'll try to help you fix it. Download this file I made and follow the instructions:
http://fileho.com/download/d55200140084/netfix.bat.html

If this doesn't work, ask me another question and include this info:
-your ISP
-when this problem started, and what changes you made at that time
-which browser you're using(IE7, for example)

For now you can set this link as a bookmark(right click and "bookmark":

Good luck!

i guess this is under the right subject? anyways i just wanted to know what karma is? like i know its "what goes around comes around" but i dont really get it..? && people have it as their religious views...&& i dont see how its a religion.

-thanks.

Think of it this way. You punch someone in the face you get -10 karma points. You give a random person $20 you get 10 karma points. You definitely want to have a positive karma balance, and you want to have as many points as possible. Religions that believe in reincarnation and karma see it this way(or something like this, numbers are examples only):
(< less than, > greater than, k karma, hell is temporary in these religions)

ok i was reading this magazine and in the magazine there were about 100 guys who described there perfect girl.

most said "caring, thoughtfull" but some of them described appearances. 1 guy said "preferebly long, brown hair" and the other said "curly, brunette hair" but none of them said blonde.

i have short blonde hair, and i was wondering if guys really do care about hair color or style.

thanks.

Some guys have a preference, but it's not a big deal. I prefer dark hair, but I've seen a lot of attractive blonde women; it doesn't matter that much.

does anyone know how much the iphone costs?
and if anyone got it already, is it worth the money?

Okay, so my parents bought me Paint Shop Pro X for Christmas for $90, which to me is really expensive. In March we had to do a system restore to our computer due to a problem we had, and it erased the PSP X program. When I went in to reinstall it, the computer told me I needed to have a serial number, but I couldn't find it anywhere on the box, cd, anywhere.

Anyone know where it would be? And if the case is that I lost it, does anyone know how I could install it? Because I really don't want to spend another $90 for a new one just because I lost some numbers.

Help, help, please.

It's in the manual, or on the cd case. If the support people don't give you a key and you can't find it:

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this problem. But whenever I type www.advicenators.com, I'm thrown into a white page which says

" The resource cannot be displayed".

The same thing happens even when I click on the "advicenators" heading of any advice column.

I keep having to go to my history and can only access advicenators thru URLS like www.advicenators.com/question.php

Does anyone have this problem as well? What's wrong and how do I solve it?

Do any of these links work?

If one of them works, I'd be interested to know which one, please include it in the feedback. If this didn't work or if you need a response from me, send me a private question, I can't respond to feedback.

Does anyone know anything that provides the same things as Limewire? All I need is a place where I can download music.

And not Ares, please.

Thanks in advance!

**Don't use KaZaA or Morpheus under any circumstances. If you do, your computer=dead. WinMX is dead and you won't be able to get it to work. Don't use the edonkey2000 client, use eMule instead, which accesses the same network. BearShare has been compromised, and is now similar to iTunes, you have to pay to download.**

Here's a list of applications that run on the same network as limewire, and so can download the same exact songs:

And here's my guide on similar networks:

well, i just downloaded limewire, and i'm worried i'm going to get arrested! everyone i know uses it, and no one has ever got in trouble. my question is, how would they find out im using it to get me in trouble? would they arrest me? give me a fine? how much? andd, what are the chances of them finding out?

You will not get caught if you are just downloading, but after you download, limewire automatically starts uploading whatever you just downloaded. This is where you can get caught. It's possible to disable this, but it's important to give back to the community, so you shouldn't. If you use any of these ISPs(especially cox, comcast, and charter), you *will* get an infringement notice eventually:
SusCom
Atlantic Broadband
Cablevision's Optimum Online
RCN/Starpower
Adelphia Cable Communications
iProvo
Qwest
Digis
Cox
Comcast
PlusNet
Charter Communications
Resnet
Shadownet
DirecPC
BellSouth

These ISPs spy on everything you do online, and you should be outraged about it. If you stop the infringement after the notice, you won't usually have to go to court, or pay any fines.

For absolute immunity from any legal issues, run a tor exit node:
http://tor.eff.org/
http://tor.eff.org/docs/tor-doc-server.html.en
http://tor.eff.org/eff/tor-dmca-response.html

Running a tor exit node gives you the same protection ISPs get, so you're not responsible for anything(even your own stuff) that goes through your connection.

I was cleaning up my computer, and I acidentally deleted dvd decoder or something, and now I have to get a new one. Do I have to pay? Because that would be prepostorous if I did. And where can I get one?

There's no way you removed the entire program while you were cleaning it. It's likely you just deleted the icon on the desktop. Go to start>all programs and find it there. If you can't, open "my computer" and go to C:\program files and find a folder with the name of your program. In it will be a file that's something like "dvd-decoder.exe"(the name of your program.exe), open this and the program will run.

If you still can't find it:

If it was a media player or codec, I recommend you download the k-lite STANDARD codec pack, which includes Media Player Classic, my favorite media player:
http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm
VLC is fine too, and might be easier for you.

If it was a dvd ripper, use HandBrake:
http://handbrake.m0k.org/

If it converted video files, use this:

Good luck!

well, i just installed limewire today. after i installed it, everytime i'd try to open it, the opening pop-up that says LIMEWIRE 4.14 2000-2006 C would come up, but it would stay there. even after 10 minutes, it would not go to the opening screen that lets you move around.

i tried restarting my computer & it didnt work!i also tried this multiple times. plss help.

Limewire problems are usually due to a problem with Java, either you don't have it installed or it's an old version. See my answer here for instructions:

http://www.viewpoint.com/installer/v4/html/vmp_faq.html

Some consider it spyware, yes. It's not too harmful, and won't mess up your computer. It records your browsing habits, and sends it back to Viewpoint HQ, who sell it. If you've accidentally installed it and want to remove it, Adivicenators' HectorJr made a guide on how:
http://www.wikihow.com/Delete-Viewpoint-Spyware

You can use pidgin or miranda if you want to talk to people on AIM without installing viewpoint:

I've been watching porn on TV for the past couple of nights. Not the whole thing but just segments. Im 16/f by the way. I've never had sex, or even kissed. Im feeling pretty ashamed by it. Does anyone else watch it? Is it a common thing for teens?

Ever single guy you've ever met does, regularly. Probably 3/4 of girls do. Don't worry about it.
