heyy well heres the thing .. i'm getting old and i haven't started to shave my legs yet. with winter coming up i can wear long pants but in gym, we have to change into uniforms that are shorts. all the popular and good looking guys are in my gym class and i don't want them to get any wrong impressions .. i want to bring this up with my mom but it really gets uncomfortable talking about puberty and such .. i really need some help! thanks ahead of time ! Well, you know, asking for advice on this one is hard. but this is really something you need to sit your mother down with and talk about. You should get her at a time when she's in a good mood, set her down and say "mom, I need to talk to you about something, and after i've had my say, then you can have some imput" Then explain to her how you think that you are mature enough to shave your legs, and how you are ready for it.
If she is still set on not letting you, then DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT have a hissy fit. Just bring it up again at a later point. Believe me, unless you're like godzilla, the guys in gym won't care about the hair.

alright guys. well. tonight i think i'm going to the movies with my boyfriend. and he wants to see into the blue. you know the one with jessica alba and the REALLY hott guy with the nice 6pack abs? alright. well the problem is that if we go i know the whole time he'll be like in his head thinking goddamn she's so fine blahblah about jessica alba. but i'm not like that when i'm with him. and i bet that later on he'd tell me how hot she looked in different sceens and stuff. so i'm like... well i'll see if i can go to that one even though i really don't want to.
i really don't think thats a "couples" movie.

and if like you were me (if you're a girl) would it bother you that like he'll talk about that stuff after the movie, when he know's that you wont talk about how hot the guys is?

Well, I know that this probably bothers you, but the best advice i can give to you is to get over it! I mean, your boyfriend may think that she's the finest thing ever, but he can't have her! He has you, and he's lucky for that. All guys have one star that totally turns them on.
Go see the movie. IF he gushes about her, you gush about the 'TOTALLY EFFING HOT GUY in the movie! If he talks about the hot actress, you talk about the hot actor. "Man that six pack really was so hot!"
Believe me...all guys have a celebrity crush, but in the end, they realize that they have someone even better....you.

Ok im 13 and I have had sex twice....I know that I want to tell my mom....but i know that if I tell my mom she will tell my dad and I KNOW that he will flip out....But I had ses with a guy that i have been goin out with for 2 years already and we are still going out...so I dont think it is that big of deal...but how do I tell my parents without them like killing me??? Okay sweetie. First of all, you're not a slut, but in my personal opinion, I would have waited just a little longer, but in no means does having sex with your two year boyfriend make you a slut. Well, if you really feel the need to tell your mother, you need to get her at a time when she's alone, and calmly, maturely discuss this with her. You could ask her to not inform your father.
You should say somewhere in there that being her daughter, you felt like you could turn to her whenever you needed her. ANd right now you need her to understand you and be supportive.
So you've had sex. IF you REALLY want your mother to know, just sit her down and do the above, but unless she doesn't really need to know, don't tell her. But you should be having safe sex no matter what.

alrighty, one of my good friends is...i guess what people would call a 'music elitist'? she's very unique and listens to old rock bands like the who and the beatles and stuff. she acts like she doesnt care what anyone thinks of her, but obviously she does or she would try so hard to be different, right? anyway, I on the other hand, am to her, the stereotypical prep. yeah, i get up and take an hour to get ready every morning, i shop at stores like AE and GAP, and i listen to pop music. whenever i give her a ride home or anything, she's always criticizing and making fun of the music that's playing, and if i go to the bathroom to fix my hair or makeup, she HAS to make a comment. i really do try so hard not to say anything to her about it. i tolerate her BLASTING the who and coldplay in my ears when i'm around her without saying anything, and i completely respect her political and religious opinions (WHICH ARE COMPLETELY OPPOSITE THAN MINE) and she doesnt. what do i do??? today i got mad and i blasted the music in the car and i kept making fun of her music, but now i feel bad. what do i do to tell her how i feel without coming off as a total b****??? Well, this is a situation that you're in, but it can be solved with a simple chat. Get your friend to settle down with you, no music. ;P You should explain everything you just stated to me, to her, see what she has to say about it. DON'T VENT YOUR FRUSTRATION. That will only make it worse. Even if she gets upset, you must remain calm and cool headed. Make a comprimise that you both will be your own selves, and neither of you will just the other's music, friends, guys, clothes, etc.

Well, i'm 17/f and yes, i like this girl. We've been friends for a couple of years. Last year she knew i liked her a couple of times but things just couldn't work out. Now i'm afraid i like her again. Should i tell her and risk being hurt again??? Or should i just let it go and never know??? Okay, well, first find out if she actually likes girls, which I'm guessing she does. You should sit her down and tell her how you feel, but tell her that you don't want to force her to like you. Tell her how much you care about her, and what you like about her. Just tell her how you feel, and tell her that if she doesn't feel the same way, that's fine, but at least she now knows your true feelings.

I'm 15 and I think I have social anxiety disorder. My parents keep urging me to get help from a counsellor.. but I can't. It's really pathetic but for me the idea of having to sit in a room with a total stranger and answer questions or something is pure torture. I want to get help but how can anyone help me when I can't speak to people? (link)

okay, well, I'm sorry to say this, but the counselor sounds like a good idea. I know that it sounds scary, but when you get in there, you can just talk about everything that's on your mind. Those counselors are NOT there to judge you and everything is purely confidential. They're there to help you, and believe me, they most likely can. So to get your parents off your back, and to help yourself, at least make a comprimise to see the counselor once. That will put your parent's nagging to rest, and you might see that it's not so bad! Ok, so theres this boy in my class, michael. We were going out, and you kno, all that bf/gf stuff. We were really close and great together, we never fought, but of course there was a lil argument here and there. Well, one day he just broke up with me. He didnt tell me why, he just said we cant go out anymore and left. The next day, my best friend was wearing a shirt that said I love my bf. I asked her who her bf was and she said michael. She ddint even try to hide it or anything. I got really mad at her, and stopped talking to her. Now there are rumors going around that they had sex. Okay okay sweetie! Settle down! First of all: She didn't steal your boyfriend. Your boyfriend made a choice, mind you, the choice a real ass hole would make, but he made the choice to break up. Now, being that you are younger, I can understand why you would be so upset, I've had that experience, but really sweetie, find a guy that is more worthy of your attention.
And as for the sex part...TOTAL BULLSHIT!! He probably wouldn't even know where to put it. So don't worry about it. And if you still want to be friends with this girl, talk it out with her, try to explain your side of why you're mad, but don't vent. Chances are that you'll become friends again.

I've just recently been breaking out real bad on my face(this usually doesn't happen)and I also notice some red zit like bumps on my legs.. which is really weird. Does anyone know what this is?! ( i'm supose to be getting my period soon if that has to do with anything?) (link)

Okay, well after reading the entries below i decided that you needed a real answer, a helpful one. Okay, yes, your period could result in acne on your face, but not on your legs.
Now I'm not trying to say you're a dirty person, which i'm 100% sure you're not, but that acne on your legs means you just need to wash better. Or it could just be that your skin is super sensitive. Instead of using one of those yummy perfumed body washes, which i know are tempting, opt for neutrogena because that will treat your skin, getting rid of those "acnelike" bumps.

Sounds like a good plan, the working out part, good exercise, but those marks WILL GO AWAY! You just have to give them time. Don't invest in those stupid creams on the market, they don't work, just make your skin super duper soft and eat up your money! Just keep up your exercise regime, and the marks will fade, give it a month or two.

Well, I know the problem, I really do, it happened to me recently, but I have to ask how long have you been going out. If he keeps on rejecting your kisses, then ask him if he has a problem with it, and maybe he's just not ready, but it is a good sign that he isn't all over you, it's a sign that he respects you. Give him a little time and see what happens. If it persists, then you might have to say see you later.

Well, you can get your period while you are pregnant, but i don't think you are pregnant. If you're taking the pill, then I think you're safe, but to be sure, go take a test and when it says negative breathe a sign of relief.

There's this guy that i have known for a pretty long time. He's three years older than me and he keeps dropping hints that he likes me but i just don't feel the same way. Wow. COnfusing, but my advice to you is not to make any rash decisions. If you want to talk to the guy, talk to him, don't go through another guy friend. I've done that and it turns out bad. You should sleep on it. As for the guy that you don't have feelings for, YOU NEED TO TELL HIM OR HE WILL NEVER GET THE CLUE!!! You really need to tell him that you don't care for him or he will never leave you alone about it. And for the one that you do like, talk to him, take a chance.

Ok I have a friend and he 'ACCENDENTLY' hit a guy in the head with a golfball. His head was bleeding terrable and I want to get my friend out of trouble because he already has like 15 more days in detention!! STOP right there! Do not, i repeat, do NOT lie about this. If you get caught lying that he was with you, you will get suspended as well. I know that he is your friend and that you want the best for him and want to help him, but he hit the guy, he should take the punishment. Do not let him take you down with him. Lying could get you into even WORSE trouble then the initial accident. Don't get into it. Let him take the punishment for what he did.

Hospitals make special heavy-duty pads that last for a really long time. I've worn them i should know. I went into surgery on the second day of mine, and just ask for some of those and you'll be set. and don't be embarassed to ask for them...they're hospitals...they deal with much worse. Good luck and i hope the surgery goes well.

I don't know if I have overactive bladder or not. I go to the bathroom once in the morning, 2-3 times at school, and maybe 3 times after school. Sometimes I get a little bit of pee in my underwear, or I leak when I can't use the bathroom right away. At first I just thought it was discharge (I've had my period for almost three years) but I get it a lot now. I don't know what's wrong with me... any answers please? Oh yeah, please don't say to ask my doctor (because I will), just give me an opinion on what you think.

i went to this ballroom dance and it was so much fun! So far I learned the waltz, and the polka. But i was wondering if there was something that could teach me about how to like breakdance or something? I know this is so sad, but-- ive never danced before. no hip hop, jazz, anything. (link)

Ballroom dancing = funness. Well, you could take a hip-hop class, or even a break dancing class because they are offered. Or you could just find a friend that would be wiling to help ou out with it. but I'm willing to bet that a class would be your best option if you want to be really good.
I actually don't live anywhere near new york, but since you live in new york, that should be simple. Look in your phone book under dance classes and there will be PLENTY options. I live in arizona, so looking in the New York book will be the best option for yoU!
