Giving advice is sort of second nature to me. I use to have a column on here but ended up deleting it. Now once again I have decided to give advice again. I value people and their problems and try to help them the best I can.



No question is a silly question. Every question has importance. I sometimes feel like some of my questions I want to ask are viewed as pointless but have comed to realize that this isn't entirely true.



My biggest pet peeves are bad spelling, grammar and punctuation. It's silly, but I mean it's not that difficult to tell the difference between you're and your. Or even their, they're and there. No offense if you do any of this, but we learned all of these when we were younger in 5th grade (give or take).



Personally one of my favorite quote is by Eleanor Roosevelt. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
If only people would truly realize this, the world would be so much happier.

So there's this guy who i've liked for a year now. I told him I liked him a month ago because I thought he liked me too. He didn't really respond. So now it's summer and we don't see each other. I should get over him, but I really don't WANT to. It's fun thinking about him, and he also never really gave me a response, so there's a possibility that something could happen next year. Is that okay?

I think it's fine, but you eventually will need to get over him. Not just yet though, since it'll sort of take a toll on you since you still like him. Try realizing that there's a bunch of other guys out there. Some totally different from him and some who are similar to him. Eventually you will probably get over him without even realizing it if he doesn't talk about you.

I know what you mean. Sometimes people are better at talking in person than on the phone. I'm one of those people.

You probably get bored on the phone since you can easily run out of things to talk about. Try to think of new things to talk about. It's nothing weird at all so don't be worried about it.

Don't buy into the hype of hoodia pills. It's not worth buying them to lose weight. The ads make them look good and such, but don't waste your money. You'll get hooked on them eventually and some diet pills can cause a heart attack.

On my inner thighs I have these lines. They're a few shades lighter than my skin color. My mom and I are pretty sure they're stretch marks. The only reason I noticed them was because I've been getting darker and they don't tan like the rest of my legs.


Anyway, I always thought stretch marks are red/pink when you first get them and they fade to a darker shade? I'm not sure if mine are new or not because they used to be about the same color as my skin, I'm guessing, because I never noticed them. I see them now that I'm tanner. I'm sure they've never been red or pink because I would have noticed red or pink marks on me.


Also, you cannot see them when I am standing up straight, only when I'm siting, or my knees are bent, stretching out me skin. So I'm not entirely sure what they are or how to get rid of them.


If it helps any, I'm 5'4 and 112lbs. But I when through a phase when my weight fluctuated quite a bit.

Yeah they're stretch marks. You get them if you gain or even lose weight. Get Palmer's Coco Butter it'll make them fade greatly. Keep putting that on the area and they'll eventually fade (not completely though).

I just watched Because I Said So with Mandy Moore and Diane Keaton. So so funny it's adorable, not really a teen love movie, but eh worth a try if you want to watch that. And it's on Demand so try watching it. It was entertaining though.

but my thighs bother me b/c they don't go with my body....
i'm 5 6 and i weigh 110 i'm 15/f...
my legs are pretty skinny but my thighs are huge...i guess i have stubby legs...
how can i get skinnier thighs without making them getting or looking muscular??...

Do a cardio routine like running or jogging. It'll help burn fat in general and mostly in your thighs since you'll be working your legs out. Muscle will build though, but no worries it'll be natural looking not muscular. Stick with the cardio though, it'll help burn the fat right off.

Low fat diet will help burn fat too. Try eating every few hours to keep your metabolism up also. 3 meals a day and 2 snacks so you're metabolism will stay steady. Your metabolism will help use the fat up for energy. And keep a healthy diet full of protein, veggies, diary, fruits, and whole grains full of fiber. Plus drink a lot of water!

I'm soo confused!!!

People say that when you're in the water, your period stops. But then why do you need a tampon if you're going swimming? What's the point in wearing a tampon in the water, even if you're period stops?

Not true at all. Your period doesn't stop if you're in water. You're still bleeding even in water that's why you wear the tampon. Even when you take a shower you're still bleeding. Just because you're in water, the bleeding doesn't stop.

I want to get my cartilage pierced but I'm scared it will hurt. I already have my first and second holes done, so I'm wondering.. does getting your cartilage hurt more or less or the same than a first or second hole? And do they do it with a needle or gun? Which way hurts less? I need to know a lot. :] So if you got yours done, tell me everything about it!!

I got my cartilage done and it didn't even hurt. It feels like your other piercings. Like that swoosh of air and then the piercing of skin. They did mine with a gun they use for first and second holes. Actually you don't even need to go to a tattoo parlor or anything like that. If you have a Claires or Icing where you live they'll do it for you I think. I'm not sure if you need a parent there though to get it done. I got it done there and they used the gun. Like I said didn't hurt at all.

I've been trying really hard to like focus on loosing weight. But it's actually quite difficult. I'm at like, 200 lbs and I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on how to lose weight for the summer? Like, what helps you stop your cravings for fatty foods? And what are good foods to eat & how to excercise.

I've been doing this as a diet and I've noticed the pounds fly out. Even in the first two weeks you'll notice results.



For a diet eat 5 times a day. 3 meals and 2 snacks. It'll help you stay full while your metabolism burns up fat. Eat things like chicken, turkey, red meat, nuts like walnuts and almonds, peanut butter for protein, yogurt and milk (Silk Soy Milk is really really good, and enjoyable the chocolate is good) for diary, fruits and veggies, and whole grain foods like rice, waffles, bread. Kashi foods has a selection of different things from cereal, waffles and nutrition bars. For breakfast you could have something like Kashi Go Lean crunch cereal with skim milk and blueberries. Lunch you could have a mixed green salad with chicken, cranberries, walnuts, carrots, avocado. For salads buy Wishbone salad spritzers for 10 sprays it's 10 calories and they have things like Raspberry Vinaigrette and Balsamic Vinaigrette and Italian dressing. Dinner you could have chicken stir fry with peppers, onions, broccoli, soy sauce and a side of rice. All of this helps with your diet. For snacks you could get nutrition bars like Luna, and Pria bars, or you can cut up apple and have peanut butter with them. Drink plenty of water. Don't drink soda, even diet soda. It has a ton of sodium which won't be worth it. You'll be eating, and healthy at that and won't crave foods like burgers and fries, or even chips. You won't even have cravings for foods during the day.




For exercise do cardio like walking or jogging. Walking will melt away the pounds since it burns a ton of calories you wouldn't even realize it. After you start doing that you'll notice you're losing a lot of pounds, after that incorporate weights (like free weights or dumb bells). Self magazine's website has a lot of different exercises you could do to work your arms, legs, back, chest and abs. If you want you can get a stability ball and do crunches on it. It'll help build your stomach muscles while you're losing weight.


Keep at it and don't give up. You'll notice a lot of weight loss just from a simple diet and simple exercise. Good luck, and I hope this helps you. Message me if you need anything. :)

Okay, i'm trying this new thing were everyday i think of the good qualities of myself. And it seems to be working, i am more confident in everything! So then everything is great, until i get to school. I Love my friends. But all they do is put themselves down! One of my friends the other day, all she said almost all day was "Im Fat. I need to lose weight." and i kept telling her she doesnt. But when she keeps saying it, i feel the need to put myself down aswell, like say, "No your not, i am". And i want to be able to stop doing that. I dont know if this question makes much sence, but i tried. What im bascially saying is, How can i get myself to stop putting myself down infront of friends who put themselfs down.

At one point we all put ourselves down just for the fact that we think it'll make our friends "feel better about themselves" which is totally not worth it. It's shown in pop culture most the time that it's acceptable to put ourselves down for the benefit for others. So at least you're trying to break the mold of that.



Keep doing what you're doing thinking about the good qualities of yourself. You should try talking to your friends though about it. I doubt they'll understand unless they're extremely mature about it. You need to tell that if they keep saying negative things about themselves, that's what's going to be projected to people in general no matter what.



Everytime one of your friends says something negative about themselvs don't think you're expected to put yourself down equally. If they say "I'm fat I need to lose weight." You should say something like "Maybe you should love yourself for what you have." Corny I know, but it might get them to stop putting themselves down. Just keep in mind that for the most part they're not going to change so you need to stay positive with you're outlook on everything.

I need to know foods that are low in calories! is there like a number you shouldnt go above or something? i dont know someone help me!

Light and fit yogurt by Dannon is low in calories. Fruit low in calories, so ae veggies. There's a new sugar free pudding that has 60 calories. 100 calorie packs of Oreos are really good if you're on a low calorie diet. Meat should be the food you eat with the most calories during a meal.


There is no number to go above but you need to know how many calories a day you need. If you overeat that many calories you gain weight. Watching how many calories are in foods just helps you watch the number of calories you consume throughout the day. You want to have a good variety of protein, whole grains, fruits, veggies and diary in your diet. Even if it's a low calorie diet.

I'm supposed to start the Yaz birth control, but because of a heart medicine i had to take the doctors told me wait until after my procedure. well my procedure got canceled. my mom called the heart doctor to see if it was okay for me to start the pill and they said there shouldn't be any problem.
the gyno wanted me to do the sunday start, you know, start the sunday after you start your period. well i got my period on sunday, so i figured this sunday i would have to start the pill. well i was reading the little pamphlet thing that came with the pills and turns out that if you start on a sunday, you have to start that same day.
i mean, i realize it probably does make a difference, but why is it like that? and if i did start this sunday (not saying that i would), it wouldn't be effective, right?

Birth control gives you "fake" hormones in a sense. The hormones they provide are synthetic. The synthetic hormones basically are there to prevent the egg from releasing. They say you have to start the same day since it'd ruin your cycle for your period completely. I'm not sure what color yours are, but usually the first week (ones you take when you have your period) has the synthetic hormones in the pills, as well as the second and third week, the fourth week however is a placebo, which is used for period.

The only reason they tell you to take it that same day is to avoid screwing your cycle for your period. Since usual birth control pills come in a 28 day cycle, you know when your period is going to start when the placebos do. That's why they wanted you to take it then.

i don't have any diseases or anythinggg.. but then like.. for some reason.. i keep saying things and it comes out the wrong way. like when i try to help someone out or try to make them feel better, it comes out wrong. i think before i say something.. but when i say it.. it sounds wrong than i thought. i used to comfort people alot and stuff but not anymore O.o ... and then my boyfriend was playing around i told him "i dont talk shit! i sometimes js say something and it comes out wrong." .... there, i said something wrong right there again. -________-" even when i think before i say something, still comes out wrong. idkk what to do to help myself, because i get myself in trouble. PLEASE HELP ME.

It's like word vomit. I always do it. You know what you want to say and it's perfectly planned in your head, and once you say it it totally comes out wrong. Best advice is just to rethink what you say (know you do it already), and also think how it's going to affect others. Sometimes you know what you want to say but don't realize how it's going to affect someone. Try doing that for a while. Sometimes we don't realize that even one little word could have a huge affect on someone.

Cold spoons gets rid of the swelling under your eyes. It reduces the puffiness. The dark circles can be covered with a good concealer that matches your skin tone. Neutrogena and MAC has some good concealer. So does Sephora.

Okay I am 15yrs old, female, and I weigh like 145+ pounds, which is NOT healty because I am only 5ft 3.5in. When I was like 11yrs old I was like 5ft 1in and 185pounds so I have lost weight but ever since I reach 145pounds like a year ago I can not loose anymore weight. I excercise and eat healty (I used to be a vegitarian but now I just don't eat red meat) but none of that is helping me loose weight. I am constantly stressed out all of the time and rarely happy because I am so fat. Where I live everyone is so weight concious and not afraid to point out your defects so that does not help my stress or self esteem but seriously, what is wrong with me? Why can't I loose weight???

I'm at a weight loss plateau here too. So I know what you mean. This morning I looked at how much I weighed and almost freaked since I didn't loss any weight in like a week or 2.


Best thing is sometimes weight loss is a psychological thing. Might not make sense but it is. There's this book out by Bob Greene (Best Life Diet) who says that you have to evaluate why you eat, and why you might be in that frame of mind. For me personally, you're better off paying no mind to the people where you live. That's when you'll start dieting and working out like a freak since everyone is so concious how they look.


Since you might be at a plateau you might want to add 10% to your exercise. If you do cardio for 30 minutes, now do it for about 33 minutes. If you do 10 reps usually for crunches do 11. For the diet, maybe reevaluate what you're eating too, you maybe want to switch some items for healthier ones if possible. (Like whole wheat items to whole grain items and such.)

My best advice is just look at your situation. You've done such a good job at losing weight from the past. You have to get back in that frame of mind that you were in 4 years ago. You want to lose weight since it'll mean a healthier you. Do it for yourself and keep telling yourself that. You've done so much so pat yourself on the back. It'll help you want to stay in the zone and lose more weight.

I like guys with shaggy hair that's sort of long. That's for guys with straight hair. It's weird a lot of guys can pull of the long shaggy hair look. Sometimes guys look good in shorter hair depending on bone structure and how your face is shaped though.

I like guys who have curly hair to keep it short. It's hot if a guy has curly hair that's kept a little short, but not too short.


Ugh whatever you do do not spike your hair like a guido. I don't know any girl who likes a guy who gels his head and spends more time in the mirror than we do. (Maybe that's me personally).

Everyone on here says that breasts grow until you're 18, but is that really true because im 14 and mine haven't grown in a really long time and i know this because my stretch marks which were once there are now gone. Also, i got my period when i was 11, so i know thats really early.

Im a 28A and I'm perfectly happy with my size even though its small. I'm fine with it and I dont want really big boobs anyway, and my mom says that her boobs were the size they are now in 9th grade and i got my period a year before her. And most people in my grade and who are a year younger are bigger than me even though they got their period later than i did.

Well in general girls stop growing at in height at age 18. Honestly I think my breasts stopped growing and I'm 16, but I know some people/doctors say that you stop growing in height, breast size and other places in general I think 4 years after puberty.


Getting your period starts midway into puberty, so your breasts stop growing 2 years after getting your period. I don't know how true that is since breast size can change also due to weight gain/loss and even pregnancy. There's a chance that your breasts might still grow.

okay, so in New York state how old do you have to be to get tattooed or have a monroe or something?

i'm 15 and live in the 12590 area.

Where I live in NY, most tattoo parlors won't even touch you, even if you have a parent with you and you're under the age of 18. They could get in trouble, and don't want to risk piercing or tattooing a minor. Some places will do it for you, even if you are 15. Just make sure they're sterile since you don't want the monroe piercing infected. This girl I know got a septum piercing done, and it's now lopsided since she went to some sketchy tattoo parlor. So be aware of something like that happening.
