Okay the past two days i`ve had volleyball camps for four hours, and i havent really been that active this summer so now im EXTREMLY SORE...it literally took me a minute and 47 seconds just to walk down 11 stairs. So from me knees up is EXTREMLY sore...and my butt n parts of my back, so does anybody kno any good stretches that will stretch those places?? im desperate need answers fastttt i cant take it
well for your legs heres something that'll help. before you go to bed, lie on your back with your legs up against the wall so you make a 90 degree angle. stay like this for about 25 minutes, then go to sleep. what this does is lets the blood and more importantly the lactic acid out of your legs, which are usually the sorest spots. also after doing this and laying down to sleep the lactic acid kind of spreads out so the soreness is less painful.
for your arms (mainly your shoulder joints) do the mecca stretch. basically get on your knees and put your arms as far in front of you on the ground as you can and slowly SLOWLY pull your hands back towards your body on the ground. your legs should be just about together and have your knees, shins and feel on the ground with your knees bent. it looks like your praying towards mecca.

I've been playing piano for a good number of years, but not as seriously as I would have liked. I'm 17 now, and really want to get better at piano but am not sure what to look for instructional-wise. While I've played the trumpet, I've never learned to read any music but the treble clef and am having a real hard time with it. I mainly just make up my own chords and get down and dirty banging on my piano. I love jazz, blues, classic rock - and I thought it'd help a lot more to get some sheetmusic of classic rock songs I already know. Anyone know of some good piano sheetmusic I can get my hands on?
I've also really started to get interested in bass guitar. I think it's awesome. I love many a song with a kick ass base line, and I want to learn more. I've mingled with the guitar slightly, It's basically a rearranged piano in my opinion, but had trouble with getting into it. It doesn't quite seem like the bass needs the same approach as a guitar does, though. My boyfriend has an old bass I could borrow. Anyone have tips?
Thanks for anyone replying.
well i'm not much of a pianist, but i can tell you that the best pianists can do more than one type of style. learn a lot of different styles from rock to classical and all that. jazz, blues and classic rock are all great, and sheet music is a good idea especially if you want to learn the bass clef. i'm actually not great at reading bass clef because i've been playing alto sax in treble since 4th grade. that kinda sucks becaues i play the bass guitar.
bass is a good choice for an instrument...it's easy to learn but impossible to master. basically just start off with some lessons (i didn't and i regret it because i'm not great at the technical stuff) and then start playing songs by decent bassists, and once you can do that go onto playing harder songs. stuff like the red hot chili peppers and some of jaco pastorius' easier works. one tip is to be able to play both with a pick and with your fingers.
hope i helped :)

hi. my rich grandparents just bought me a saleen s7 for my 16th bday. I LOVE THE CAR and ive always wanted it. The only problem is, even though my neighborhood is fairly nice nobody has a car like mine and everyone is making fun of me! they say rich girl, spoiled brat, snob and stuff like that. My car got egged too :(. How can i make this stop??
thankz
First off... you're soooo lucky!
Second...ignore them, they're just jealous. If anyone ever comes face to face with you about it, just ask like..."well would you call yourself rich girl or spoiled brat if it was your car?"
then do the "oh i went there" face, then hit the gas and burn down the road :)

im 13 next week, and i thought that to be a great musician and get a contract you had to be at least like 16; but then i saw this thing about how JoJo and britney spears (JoJo now, britney spears like 6 years ago) both were 13 when they made their first music video...
i'm really into rock, and i'm trying
Well first whatever instrument or thing you do, practice at it like crazy. Singing included. Then from there you just have to do a thing called NETWORKING. Its something you'll need to be able to do your whole life, so start it young. Basically go to places where there's going to be music (example...a local venue, or a local recording studio) and just talk to anyone and everyone you can. Get your name out there, get your talents out there, and make sure people know that you want to make a band. I've found that often times the best bands are the bands who are together (exception: Oasis) so if you've got friends who are good at instruments, ask them. Or even see if your friends are interested in learning an instrument and starting a band. I know that the bassist from Thrice and the bassist from All American Rejects had both never played the bass once when the band started, but their friends got them to play. The bassist from Thrice is actually very good too.
Once you're in a band, keep networking. Vincent's uncles nephew's father's sister's aunt's son-in-law's landlord could very well be someone who could get you into a recording studio to cut a demo. Keep branching out until you know every person involved in music within a 30 mile radius (alright i exadgerate but its good to know more people). Play shows and advertise your band on other band's websites and tell your friends to tell their friends and just get your band's name out to anyone you can.
However, don't get ahead of yourself or ahead of your band. The most important thing about the band is the music, not the record contract or Jimmy's new 2000 dollar guitar. It's always about the music man, and the industry is hard to get into.
Good luck man, maybe some day I'll be listening to you on the radio.

This is a stupid little thing.. but oh wells.
As of now, I'm hungry. I need something to snack on! Any ideas of what I could make for a little midnight snack?
Haha. Thanks!!
Hmmm...I'm getting hungry too.
I am training for varsity soccer right now so I'm going to go make a salad... Lettuce, Baby Spinach, tomato, red onion, and olives, then put it in a container with a little vinegar and a little olive oil and shake it up til everythings wet, and until the stuff is mixed in well.
Or go for a Greek Salad with like lettuce, feta cheese, green olives, hard boiled eggs, maybe a little ham.... mmmmmm *drool*
But then again popcorn and chips are always good too :)

Hey Josh, I think I'm gonna be the first question in your column thingy... I see that you play both hockey and soccer...I do too. My problem is that during the soccer season for school, I am in good cardiovascular shape, but I'm not all buff or stuff...lol. Then for hockey season which starts basically a week after soccer ends, I basically get killed because I'm so small from soccer. What should I do?
Thanks...Mark
Mark, well sorry but you're not the first in my column but thats ok...
I actually had the same problem before, it's tough to work with at first and takes some commitment.
Being a goalie in soccer, I need to be light and thin so that... A: I can move around fast and fly through the air...and B: So that I am not getting caught on myself (like having too much arm muscles rubs against the sides of my body, slowing my arms down which is key in that position). What I do is I run a lot during soccer season (even outside of our soccer practices) but I also lift light weights (just enough to still be muscular, but not so much that I bulk up...about 70 squatting, 50 curling, and about 140 benching). This allows me to stay light and thin but still have the muscle. Once soccer is over, I start eating much more (like 10000 calories a day) and lift much bigger weights, basically double what I do for soccer season. Last year, in the 2 weeks I had between soccer and hockey, I gained 32 pounds from working out. You've gotta remember to still run though because now that you're eating more you have to do aerobic exercise as well as anaerobic.
Hope I helped you Mark...

hey im skinny...but like my thighs and stomach and upper arms are flabby!! i wanna get fit and tonned for skool which starts sept 8th...lately ive been jumping on my trampoline ALOT!! will that help?? where will it make me fit..will it help my stomach and stuff..just a big trampoline..
Hey....
Well It's Aug. 12th now, so you've got almost a month. The trampoline, unfortunately won't do a whole lot. For your stomach, just do like crunches and situps and stuff like that. When you do them, don't do like 500 one day and then none the rest of the week, do maybe like 50 a day to start off then gradually increase it, and take the weekends off to give your muscles time to recuperate.
For your thighs, the best thing I can tell you is to get one of those contraptions where you push your thighs together and it gives resistance...they look like a butterfly but i'm not sure what they're called.
For your upper arms, find light weights like 5-15 pounds each, and just lay on your back with your arms spread out so you make a T, and just bring your arms in...way up above your chest. It's important to keep your elbows straight, because if you bend them you work your wrist and forearm more than your upper arm.
Above all...run. Get into a habit of maybe running a mile or two every day or even just every other day. I have a friend who moved away 3 years ago and when he left he was about 5'5, 180 lbs of fat. Within less than 6 months (of running 2 miles a day) he was at 5'6, 135 (obviously running doesn't make you taller....) and in great shape. When he visited my town, I didn't recognize him til I heard his voice and saw his family with him.
Well you've got a month, you can do it :)

ok hey..this question is for all the guys....i was jw...do you guys lyk slutty girls or no? cuz it seems lyk all the slutty girls have boyfriends and there mostly bitches all the time...and it makes me angry!!! i mean isnt there some decent guys out there anymore...??
Hey, well I know a lot of guys do go for slutty girls, but you should forget them. If they're only in a relationship for the sex, then you shouldn't be jealous of the girl. Like you said, a lot of them will be bitches but the non-decent guys will put that aside because they're horny. I say stay clean, don't be someone you're not, and look for someone who likes you for who you are, not for your body.
