im thinking about moving out next fall- in with my boyfriend. im 16, i'll be 17. hes 18 soon to be 19.
it is possible for me to continue going to high school once i move out, but still- finishing it up online would make my life easier for when im on my own. ill have more time to work and take care of things.
what are some sites or places sources whatever that offer courses online?
it may depend on where you live, but my high school accepts credits from the texas tech programs. a lot of students at my high school do correspondence courses for those stupid classes that everybody has to take- like health or whatever, so they don't waste time at school. you can either do it online, or do it through the mail. and you have like a six month deadline or something to get one semester of it turned it. it's pretty cool- i don't know how much it costs, but you have to buy the textbook and everything. also, here is a really good site: keystonehighschool.com. that's the website for keystone high school, which is like a nationwide correspondence course system thing. it's used for kids who have special situations- like kid actors who have to do school online or with a tutor, or a friend of mine who is in a dance company and has to finish high school online. anyone can apply, but that's who it's targeted for- so it's pretty flexible. definitely check it out! and you may want to ask your school counselor too, they will probably know of some places to take correspondence courses.
Okay...I went to Disney World the week of November 3rd-November 10th..but that's not my problem..I handed a note to my homeroom teacher and I don't think he got it, so the three days i was out, all my teachers marked everything i missed a 0..so basically im failing 2 classes..im so scared cuz if i fail one more class, i could stay back! and i dont want to..i am literally crying as im typing this..my moms going to email all my teachers asking them if i can do extra credit and stuff..right now i hate school..what can i do to bring up my grades??
your mom needs to contact the principal and explain about the note. did you do your makeup work? at my school, the policy is that if you miss x amount of days of school, you get the same number of days to make the work up after you come back. it's probably different at yours, but the teachers shouldn't just give you 0s. if you get your mom to talk to your teachers/principal, your situation will get a whole lot better because most of the time teachers don't listen to their students... i've had one teacher put in 0s for test grades that i got 100s on, and she didn't even care! don't worry, you won't have to stay back just because you missed three days of school- i know this is stressing now, but just keep your nose to the grindstone for a few days and see if you can do extra credit (even though you shouldn't have to because they shouldn't count things as 0s if you weren't even there). definitely get mom involved! i hope everything works out for you.
im only 16, and i have gray hair. My mom told me i could have "straightened the color right out of my hair" because it doesnt look like normal gray hair. its totally white. she told me it doesnt look normal. has this happened to anyone else?
is your hair white to the point of platinum blonde? i have kind of blonde hair, and sometimes my hair gets like that when i've been out in the sun. no, you can't straighten color out of your hair- thankfully. some people do start graying early. have any other females in your family had that happen? if so, then it is "normal" and hereditary- but if not, you could always ask a doctor to be sure. for now, you can color it. sorry :(
Hi. Ok, I have an "hourglass" figure. My problem is, I don't know what kind of clothes flatter me. I currently weight 220 lbs, and i am 5 9. I would appreciate someone telling me what kind of clothes would flatter me. Normally, I wear waist high jeans and t-shirts, but i want cute clothes that are in style. Thank you!!!!!

it is true, but it doesn't taste very good :) yeah, i always just put the gum with the wrapper still on it in my mouth and the paper disintegrates. but, when you put any kind of paper in your mouth, it will disintegrate, so the stride gum wrapper thing is not revolutionary- it's just paper.
I love that video the guido fan club, and in one part the guy says 'and boy did he have a pair of latts, latts that went on for weeks' hah so i was wondering what are latts? i think they have something to do with muscles but idk?
i just learned about this in my health class i have to take :) latts are muscles in your back- the full name is lattissimus dorsi. you might also hear of another muscle in your back, which is the trapezius- or "traps". apparently body-builders have awesome latts and traps.

at first i thought you were talking about acne when you said make your face clearer- haha, but no, the focus is what makes things clearer. on most cameras, if you hold the button halfway down, it focuses, and then after it does that, press the button down the whole way to take the picture. but taking the sound off is good if you're using your camera in a place where you're not supposed to, like school or something.

check guitarcenter.com and musiciansfriend.com. a lot of professional musicians have custom picks from places like fender, gibson, and ernie ball, so you might want to check those websites too. i am pretty sure i saw some custom guitar picks when i was looking through the musician's friend catalogue the other day, so that would be the first place i'd look.
A friend of mine's brother recently past away. The wake is Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. We're having Thanksgiving, and my mom's pretty stressed out, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to buy an outfit for it. I don't own a pair of blank pants. What can I wear instead? hey there, the first thing you should do is call a friend who is about the same size as you and ask if they have anything you can borrow (or at least just black pants). if you can find black pants, then a button-up shirt or a sweater is fine to wear with them. do you have any skirts or dresses that are dark colors? it doesn't really matter if they're actually black, but brown or navy blue is good too. i think your best bet is to call a friend though.
Lately my school has been talking to us about abortion. They think it's wrong and I'm not sure about it. I'm NOT pregnant, but there are girls in my school who are and each of them has said they wish they would have had an abortion. I think it's wrong, but it could also be for the best if one was to have an abortion.

well, i look at a person's decision to have an abortion or not to have an abortion as i would their religious belief or whatever... it's totally up to them and none of my business. i think that if you are willing to have consensual sex then you should know that there are consequences and be willing to deal with those. with that said, i know that if a child is aborted that they will "never have a chance" or whatever- but they will also not ever have to live in an abnormal home, knowing that they were a mistake, that they weren't supposed to happen, and now that they exist, they messed up life for mom and dad (if dad even still hangs around). then again, i'm one of those people that believes that everybody has their own personal business, and i don't like forcing my beliefs or opinions on other people (and i don't like it when people force their opinions or beliefs on me either). truthfully, it depends on the situation, and in the situation, the mother should use her best judgment. also truthfully, if i were raped, i would have an abortion. no doubt. should i be condemned for my beliefs? no, because my body is my business and nobody else's. with the law standpoint, here's something to think about: think of the people who say that abortion is this terrible thing and it should be outlawed... well, a majority of those people aren't pregnant, and if they were, then nobody's making them abort their child anyway. that's called sticking their noses in places they shouldn't. so it makes no sense to me why it's been scientifically proven that abortion is not really murder, yet people still try to outlaw it from a moral standpoint. i'm about to wrap this up, i promise. anyway, people in the u.s. differ in morals, and it would be unfair to follow one set of morals (or follow just one religion, that goes along with the freedom of speech, thought, and religion thing). if abortion is against somebody's morals, then that somebody shouldn't have an abortion. if abortion is hunky dory with somebody's morals, then go ahead. but whatever anybody else says, abortion is a personal matter for whoever chooses to partake in or abstain from it.

I told yawlz how much I hate gym, right? Well, it's a funny thing. The only fitness thing I do is: YOGA. I was thinking, is it possible to talk to my gym teacher and ask him if I can make a yoga type part of the class? I found out that, yes I must pass 'gym' to pass high school. Which in my opinion is a load of bull shit. Anyway, do you think I can convince my gym techer and principle to do this? I have almost 30 more peepz who agree with me on this. So, there'd not only be me doing yoga, but many others. Would a bunch of signartures work??? Please respond, ASAP!

you can certainly try, but i honestly doubt that this will work. the gym teacher has a set curriculum (if you can call it that). the only reason he/she would be able to alter that is if part of the curriculum conflicted with a student's religion or personal beliefs, and then that would have to be handled through the parents. i doubt that a bunch of signatures would make your gym teacher do anything about it. because the thing is that you are at your gym teacher's mercy when it comes to these things. you have to pass that class at some point or you don't graduate. your gym teacher knows this and probably isn't going to make it any easier for you when the majority of kids that are in gym pass it with no problem. if you really feel like doing this, then by all means go ahead, but you might look back on it and think that your time could have been better spent actually trying to pass gym the normal way. instead of putting so much effort into getting out of gym, or trying to change your gym class to fit your needs, why don't you just put that effort into trying during gym class itself? it will pay off a lot more.

no- alltel phones aren't capable of doing that. with an alltel phone, the phone is the actual sim card, so you would have to take it to the store. that's what all my friends have had to do in the past.

oh man, i have definitely been in your situation before. i'm not going to share my beliefs because that's not what you're asking for. anyway, i agree that people can be really pushy- and that's obnoxious. to me, religion and spirituality, or even lack of it, is a very personal thing. i don't discuss my spirituality with other people. and there are always going to be the people that try to force their religion on you- but you've just got to ignore it. that's the best thing to do. just don't argue, say, "let's agree to disagree and talk about something else." i realize that is easier said than done, but i truly believe it is the best way, even in any situation. as for the frustration regarding all this, writing in a journal really helps, as does physical activity. i can't tell you how many times i've come home and been so pissed off i could hardly see straight. that's the point where i run five miles. and besides, it truly gives them more satisfaction when you try to justify your beliefs simply because they view them as "wrong"... it wouldn't be as satisfying to them if you just said, "well, i believe what i believe, and that may not be okay with you, but frankly, it's none of your business." and here's my rant about people being closed-minded: just as those people can't force you to believe in jesus, you can't force them to follow your beliefs. i understand that you want to show them what you are all about, but that may create conflict. people who have closed minds think that their way is the right way- the only way. this is not so, but once again, that's the time to agree to disagree. well, i hope i helped a little bit.

okay well last friday i had a 10 minute presentation, well it was supposed to be 10 miunutes but i tottaly bombed it! it sucked. I got up there and i looked at everyone and i just forgot EVERYTHING i was supposed to say, we got to use notecards and i couldnt even like read the notecards right my words were all slurred together and i was like shaking like crazy! and like i had like LOOOONG pauses and yeah when i was done everyone was like laughing and it was so embaressing but i had to soke it up.
but i need some like some GOOD techniques on how to do presentions, and maybe even if you have some embaressing stories about when you presented
because in the spring time we have to do a 50 minute presentation ahhh!

okay, presentations as a whole are a mentality thing. when somebody is presenting in front of an audience, the audience wants the presenter/performer to do well. nobody wants to see somebody suck. so when you get up there to present, don't get stuck with the mentality that everybody hates you and wants you to bomb- it's just not so. in the past, if i've done like a poster project, it's helped me to tape notecards to the back of the poster and hold the poster up. also, don't make eye contact with anybody. at all. until you have done a few presentations and now feel comfortable doing that. the best thing to do is look at the back of the room, or whatever. to me, presentations are just like standing there talking to my friends, so if you think of it like that, it won't bother you. also, presentations that are directed toward your age group (as in sentences that people can actually comprehend) are better too because it keeps people's attention. until you feel comfortable just winging a presentation, do powerpoint whenever possible. that way, all you have to do is click and read. sure, powerpoints are the epitome of boredom as far as presentations go, but they're still acceptable and there's no possible way that you can forget to say anything. anyway, without further ado, here is my embarassing moment:
this doesn't have to do with a presentation per se as much as a performance. i was supposed to memorize and perform this 5 page beethoven piece on piano for a recital in this huge church. so of course, every time i practiced the song at home i thought that i had it memorized... until i got to the place where the recital was being held. when they called my name and i walked up there, suddenly i thought, "holy crap, i can't remember any part of this song." by the way, it was a really repetitive song and really easy to get confused. so, i get through like the first 2 pages fine, until i get to a part where the music completely changes. by this time, it was really funny to me that i had completely sucked so far, with no hope of revival... so i accidentally hit some wrong chords and started laughing out loud. i considered standing up and being like, "um, well, i actually don't even know this song. sorry." but then i just played another wrong chord. it sounded so awkward. i got up and walked back to my seat and people didn't know whether or not to clap. they were like, "um, was that the end?"
anyway, at the time, that seemed like the worst thing that could have happened to me ever in my whole entire life, but i got over it after a few days. truthfully, stuff like that happens all the time to me and at this point it's just funny. today at school i walked by a bookcase full of dictionaries and encyclopedias and it completely collapsed and most of the books fell on top of another girl. everybody started laughing at me. i just laughed with them because it was so dumb.

Is there any kind of way I can charge my iPod (classic) without using my computer? Preferably not a lot of money. And something that charges it quick. Because I travel a lot, and don't have a laptop, so I need something that I can charge my iPod on while I travel. Any help is great. And please no "no, you have to use a computer". Because that's not what I'm looking for.
yes, i actually have two alternatives: the car charger (available at radioshack, or anywhere else for that matter), and there is an ipod charger that plugs into an electrical outlet, which can probably be found at best buy or walmart. before i got my new ipod, i didn't know that there was a way to charge it other than plugging it into an electrical outlet, so that's probably your best option.

no, that has never helped me. in my opinion, if you ever needed to know anything from past years, you could either ask your friends who took that class or just look it up online. just recycle it :) however, if you are taking a foreign language, it may be helpful to keep like little vocab or notes sheets. i kept mine from last year and i've had to look at them a few times, although that is also something that you could throw away and look up online if you ever needed it. use your judgment, but honestly there's no sense in keeping it unless it's a cool project.

you have to do it by substitution but im so confused. :(
i'll help with the first one and then you will probably be able to do the others. we actually just took a test on this in my algebra ii class. okay, the point of substitution is to get one of the equations and make it to where it is either x=..., y=..., or z=. so, going with that, let's take the last equation from that first bit because it looks easier than the rest. let's say you want to isolate x on one side of it (so it will look like x=...).
-x-y+z=2
from both sides, add y, and subtract z so now you have:
-x=y-z+2
that is negative x, and since you want positive x, just change the signs:
x=-y+z-2
so then you can go into another equation (let's take the second one) and plug in the x. so it would be:
2(-y+z-2)+2y+z=1
now, it will really help now if you write that down and make it into a simpler form, which is:
-2y+2z+4+2y+z=1
do you see that there is a -2y and a +2y? those make 0. so, that means that after you do that, all that is left in the equation is z. pretty cool, right? so after that, you can solve for z.
i think that is probably enough info to get you started on that one. just keep going to different equations and isolating variables. now you know what z is, so it will be much easier to solve for x and y. if you have any other math questions, send them to my inbox :)

american eagle, definitely. they last for a really long time- i've never had any of my ae jeans rip or anything. in fact, the pair i'm wearing right now is almost three years old. and they're comfy too! they're normally about 30-40 dollars a pair, but they last for a really long time. it would be a smart idea to buy some that are just a little bit bigger than you need them to be because they could shrink.
