ok so im a guy and i like watching porn.
im actually not a pervert or anything and i dont do it too often, so dont be mean ^_^. anyway my parents have this parental control thingy, so almost every site is blocked. so i found one or 2 sites that arent, but the videos played on windows media player and im scared theyre somehow still on there. my parents would kill me :(
so are they still on there or not?

It's saved in Media Player and your browser, though it's not immediately apparent. CCleaner will remove both:
http://www.ccleaner.com/

After you use CCLeaner, you can just delete its entry in the start menu. Then go to C:\program files\ccleaner\ccleaner.exe when you want to run it again.

The most secure way for you to leave no trace is to create a truecrypt drive with portable firefox in it. This might also disable your parental controls. Truecrypt:

Portable firefox:

hi, i have a windows XP
hp laptop
and if i leave it alone for more then 2 minutes or so (such as to go to the bathroom) it will go to the screen saver, when i move the mouse around to get back to what i was doing it will bring me back to the start page where you type in your password when you first turn the computer on,
is there a setting where it won't go back to the start up page (the blue one with the names and where you type in your password)
thank you!

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. If you want to go directly to your desktop, skipping the password screen, go to start, run. Type:
control desktop
and press ok. Go to the "screen saver" tab. Uncheck "on resume, password protect". Click ok.

If you want to change the style of the password screen from the old NT-style, go to start, run. Type:
nusrmgr.cpl
and press ok. Click "change the way users log on or off", then uncheck "use the welcome screen". Apply changes. Restart to see changes.

Hi I have been helped by you a few times and was wondering if you could help me with this Hi I have a PSP slim and was wondering if you knew how to put a VNC on it and how to do it if you could be specific please that would be great. I am a registered user hope you can help this question has not been answered for 3 days and has been the question like 5 times so was wondering if you could help. O and my version of my psp my firmware is 3.90 hope you can help

You can't run any third-party programs (like VNC) on any version of the PSP without modifying the hardware or firmware. That is more difficult on the Slim version, since its hardware is different and it ships with more recent firmware.

Read the info here for instructions:
http://www.psp-forum.com/psp-homebrew/
Post there if you have any trouble.

After you switch to custom or 1.5 firmware, I think that the portable version of tightvnc will just run without any extra work. If not, ask on the link above.

Personally, I wouldn't attempt any of that. You could brick your (very expensive) PSP.

For a CA (communication arts) project, we have to use a database, and we have to cite it. I'm using an articlefrom EBSCO, but I have no idea what format to use for the citation. I'm using Citation Machine (citationmachine.net) so if you could tell me which one to choose from there, that'd be awesome. Thank you! :]

Use MLA for K-12. Later in life, ask whoever assigned the project.

How to cite online databases:

usually when i leave my computer my screen just stays on .. keeping me signed on. but recently my screen has been goin to sleep. which makes me sign off. how do i keep my screen "awake" when im not aroundd..?

Go to start, run. Type:
control desktop
Press ok. Go to the "screen saver" tab. UNcheck "On resume, password protect". Now when you wake your screen, you will still be logged on.

You can change the number next to "wait" to make the screen saver come on at a different time, or change the screen saver to "(none)" to disable it completely. To also turn off other, similar "sleep" settings, click the "power options" button.

"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." - from Hamlet , Wm. Shakespeare; Act II, scene ii

do you agree or disagree? its very debatable.

That view is called relativism, and I strongly agree with it. There is no absolute good or bad, just the facts and how we choose to deal with them.

I am with bigpond broadband (Telstra) and i'm on the 256/1000 k thing or something like that.

It's supposed to at about 200kb/s, but on my computer (when downloading items) it only goes at a max of 30kb/s.

No, the amount of memory left in my hard drive doesnt do much because i tested the speed on my other computer which is almost empty and i get the same result.

Why is this happening and how can i get to the maximum speed?

If you don't think bigpond is a good network, please suggest some other networks (Australian [Sydney])

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Kronix

Your ISP is talking bits, but you're seeing bytes. There are 8 bits(abbreviated lowercase b) in one byte(upercase B). Your plan is 256 kilobits per second(kbps) download, 1000 kilobits per second upload, an odd configuration. That is equivalent to 32 kilobytes per second(kB/s) download, 110 kilobytes per second upload. So 30kB/s is normal for your plan.

It's my understanding that bigpond has a monopoly on broadband in Australia. I don't think there's anything better.

I got a game called "Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance." I put this on my computer (Windows XP) and this message comes up
"Hardware Based Instancing Required
Please ensure that computer has current video drivers"
What does this mean? Do i need to get new drivers? If so where should i get them and for how much?

Go to start, run. Type:
devmgmt.msc
and press ok. When device manager opens, expand "Display adapters". Depending on what it says, you'll need to do different things.

If it says NVIDIA or GeForce, go here and download the latest drivers*:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
The model number should be next to NVIDIA in device manager.

If it says ATI, go here and download the latest drivers*:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
The model number should be next to ATI in device manager.

If it says anything else, or "Display adapters" isn't there, then you most likely don't have a video card. You need a video card to play Supreme Commander. If you want to play it, you'll need to buy one. I recommend you have a professional install one, they'll know which type is compatible with your system.

If installing drivers didn't help, then your video card isn't good enough. You need to buy a new one. See above.

(* Uninstall your old drivers before installing new ones)

How do you block certain websites? I got in a fight with my lil brother and I completely had it. He's always using my computer and leaving it a total mess. He plays dumb games and starts abusing the keyboard, and doesn't get off when I need to use it for homework and starts crying like a baby. Anyways I see that he only goes to certain kiddie websites, so I wanna know how to block accessibility of certain websites. That way he might give and leave my computer alone.

Go to start, run. Type this:
explorer %SYSTEMDRIVE%\windows\system32\drivers\etc

In the window that opens, right click the file called "hosts", go to "properties", and uncheck "read-only". Then open "hosts" with notepad.

You need to put all text at the BOTTOM of the hosts file. Do not remove anything already there. To block a site, put a 0, then a space, then the site. Make sure you do NOT include www., http://, or any anything after the domain.

This will block google:
0 google.com
This will block ONLY mail.google.com:
0 mail.google.com
These will not work correctly:
0 http:// google.com
0 google.com/something
0 www.google.com

After you've added all the entires you want, save the file in notepad. Then go to start, run and type this:
ipconfig /flushdns
The sites are now blocked. Whenever someone tries to visit the site, they should get an error when trying to connect.

If you forget how to manipulate the hosts file, you may have a hard time fixing this. This is far from the first thing a tech support person would look for. You might want to bookmark this page.

it keeps saying its bigger than 15k,
but my picture is seriously tiny.
so what exactly is "15k"
and how can i turn my picture from pixels to "k's"

:)

"15k" does not refer to the dimensions of the image. It's the space the image takes up on your hard drive, in bytes. Your picture must be under 15 kilobytes(15360 bytes) to be uploaded directly to Advicenators. You can see the size of any file by right clicking it and going to "properties". "Size" is the real size, you can ignore "size on disk".

You've probably been editing the picture in MS Paint, which saves images in BMP format. This is a very large format. You need a compressed format like JPEG or PNG.

Use Irfanview to convert to JPEG(if it's a picture from a camera) or PNG(if it's anything else, such as a drawing). Download:
http://www.irfanview.com/
You convert by opening the image in Irfanview and then going to File -> Save as... Then choose the type in the bottom dropdown.

Or you can upload it somewhere else, like lauraxomichelle suggests.

How do you put a file on acrobat reader? Where can I make a file in PDF format?

PDF is for sending stuff exactly as you want it. Exact same font, spaces, margins etc. If you don't need that, then you shouldn't use PDF. In almost every case, HTML is a better option than PDF.

PDF files are not created "from scratch". There is no Microsoft Word-like interface for creating them. You can only convert other documents created in other programs *to* PDF. Not even Adobe's ludicrously expensive Acrobat pro has a "PDF creator".

All of these free programs do pretty much the same thing. You print something to a virtual printer and it comes out as PDF. Adobe's Acrobat does the same thing, but it supports some extra options and programs.

Has anyone had experience with this software?

Does it run well and all that good stuff?

Yes, it works fine. It's no photoshop, but it'll do most of the things that the average user would want to do.

I recently uninstalled a program called kiwee toolbar from my computer. Up until today I didn't know I even had it (I think a friend installed it,
I've already decided on a place to hide the body).

I have experience with getting rid of similar toolbars, so I've looked at google to see if there's spyware or other stuff I need to worry about. Some people say it uninstalls fine, others list a load of extra steps needed to fully get rid of it.

My question is this. Does anyone have experience with this program, and do I need to worry about it? I've already uninstalled it through add/remove programs, do I need to do anything else?

Unless you're having trouble there are no additional steps. Kiwee toolbar doesn't purposefully stick to your computer, though it may be prone to uninstallation problems.

About 4 days ago my computer started acting funny. I turned it on and started getting weird pop ups saying that somene was trying to attack my computer or something and infect it with.... a virus or something. Some pop ups say that Windows blocked the virus and some say that I have the virus and have to remove it. The weird thing is I think these pop ups are PART of the virus. It says... Virus Name: Worm.Win32.NetBooster2 Path: C:/Windos/system32/qappsrv.exe
i couldn't find the path in my computer so i think the pop pup has that path name to make itself sem believable because i do have a system32 folder.
Anyway... I'm not sure how we got the virus. We don't go to dirty websites... We have an anti virus or scanner or... well I am not sure what it is. It scans and is supposed to remove threats but it is very crappy. I think it's a pirated version of an anti scanner. it doesn't work well but I know it's not the CAUSE of the virus because we've had it for some time. At first it detected the virus but not anymore :-(
Anyway, I don't care how we got it. I just want to get rid of it already because I can't even use the computer. It makes my homepage a.... virus isolator page and keeps sending me op ups, even when I'm offline!
My friend said it was a bug cause he had one too and that he fixed it by finding the bug and stopping it,. I couldn't find it. And I tried going to the "task manager" but it is disabled and no way to enable it...

I was wondering, has anyone ever had this virus/bug or know anything about it? if yes, how did you get rid of it?
does anyone know of a free anti virus or virus scna i can load or anyway to get rid of this bug???

Please help me!

Thank you for your time.

The popup itself is adware. The alert is not real. They just want you to buy their useless "antivirus". See my guide here:
