screen saver?

Question Posted Friday May 16 2008, 11:44 pm

hi, i have a windows XP
hp laptop
and if i leave it alone for more then 2 minutes or so (such as to go to the bathroom) it will go to the screen saver, when i move the mouse around to get back to what i was doing it will bring me back to the start page where you type in your password when you first turn the computer on,
is there a setting where it won't go back to the start up page (the blue one with the names and where you type in your password)
thank you!

on your start menu go to CONTROL PANEL then go to appearance and themes .in the bottom half of the screen and click display .go to screensaver and there will be a changeable wait time .this is how you change the time your screensaver goes on

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. If you want to go directly to your desktop, skipping the password screen, go to start, run. Type:
control desktop
and press ok. Go to the "screen saver" tab. Uncheck "on resume, password protect". Click ok.

If you want to change the style of the password screen from the old NT-style, go to start, run. Type:
nusrmgr.cpl
and press ok. Click "change the way users log on or off", then uncheck "use the welcome screen". Apply changes. Restart to see changes.
