My name is Lyndsey and I'm 17 years old. I live in Lexington, South Carolina. I pride myself on being mature for my age with a good head on my shoulders, but I find I can be snippy when I hear something that just hits a nerve. I have a lot of strong opinions and I have no problem arguing them. I'm a very open-minded person and very tolerant of most things.

Immaturity is a big pet peeve of mine, as is self-centered, narrow-minded, and ignorant people. I can be cruel when it comes to these things, but sometimes certain people need to be told their faults. I know mine and I have no problem being confronted with them. If someone has a problem with me, online or in person, I'd rather they tell me and we can resolve the issue in a mature fashion. I won't tell you want to WANT to hear, just what you NEED to hear.

On a less serious note, I'm a laid back person and I enjoy shopping, the internet, and my favorite TV shows (Queer as Folk, The L Word, Friends, American Idol, Will & Grace, House). I don't have a large group of friends, but the ones I have are close and I love them to death. I generally enjoy life, minus the whole school deal. I'm a junior in high school and I can't wait to move on to college. I am an honors student and I hope to go to the University of South Carolina and then eventually into the medical field, possibly psychology.

If you have any questions or want advice, I'm here for ya, babes.

ok i blowdry my hair every night but when i wake up it's always poofy. how do i make it stay in place even after i wake up?? (link)
You can either wash and blow dry it at night and straighten in the morning or just blow dry in the morning.

I had sex for the first time 2 nights ago. i wasnt in pain that night, but i was the morning after. im okay today, but i was wondering if there was a certain amount of days you should wait before doing it again? (link)
Just wait until there's no more pain and you feel comfortable doing it again. If you think it's too soon, don't do it.

I've never given or received oral sex. I am 15/f. People say it is normal to do it at my age and I sort of agree. I am afraid of having a guy go down on me because I don't have this kind of experience and I am shy. I'm sort of afraid of going down on a guy because I don't want to do it wrong.

People always say you're supposed to wait until it feels right but I think it will only feel right when I give it a try.

Any advice?? (link)
This is just my opinion, but I think you should wait. If you're not completely sure (which I suspect your not due to you asking for advice), you shouldn't be doing it. At 15, I'd give it some more time before attempting to give oral sex to someone. What about a hand job? Trust me, guys will take what they can get.

Oral sex on a guy isn't easy. There are certain things to remember when doing it and certain techniques to remember. It takes practice...you don't start out as an expert.

Just give it some time and think it over more. People may say it's normal to give oral sex at 15...but I definitely don't agree.

good news...I can zip my prom dress up all the way since yesterday just by walking a mile and doing crunches everyday...

I'd like to lose six more pounds....do I just continue what I'm doing or do you have any suggestions..?
Also, I'm thinking about buying Trimspa....does it really work or is it a fad? (link)
Diet pills aren't worth anything. If you look at ads for Trimspa or other diet supplements, at the bottom it says "results not typical". In other words "it might work...but probably not".

Anna Nicole's autopsy showed that she was on a depression medication...if you look up that medication, the most common side effect is weight loss. So it's very possible that "Trimspa baby!" wasn't the miracle everyone thought it was.

Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine.

Can someone tell me the answer to this?

hey yeah my moms telling me to sleep morecause i havent been sleeping and im starting to get breakouts. true? or partially true?? (link)
This is from the Health 24 website:

"It is important to get eight hours' sleep - not only for your general health, but also for your skin. In order to build a healthy immune system, you need your rest. Although enough sleep cannot prevent acne, it can help fight infection and aid recovery."

Also, if you want to prevent breakouts or get rid of ones you already have, here are some things that can help (other than things like Proactive or other medicines you can get from your dermatologist:

-Although sweating can make acne worse, exercise reduces stress and stress can cause acne.
-If you use acne products, don't switch products a lot...stick to one for at least three weeks at a time unless you have bad side effects from it. They need time to work.
-Don't believe that being in the sun reduces acne...there's no proof of that. In fact, the sun quickens aging and increases your risk of skin cancer...so the cons outweigh the pros.
-Do NOT squeeze zits. It just spreads the bacteria and makes it worse.

I used to have acne problems. I went through about 5 different medications, including Proactive, that didn't work for me (I have very dry skin) and now I've settled on this Brevoxyl-4 face wash once a day (from the dermatologist) and I just stopped taking Minocycline, which definitely helped. It might be a good idea to see your dermatologist about your breakouts.

when my boyfriend sucks my nipples it starts to hurt, is that normal? (link)
He's sucking too hard. Tell him to lighten up...those things are sensitive.

ok, i am confused a little, i know im not lesbian, but i find girls making out very hot! and arousing, i have made out with a girl, ive actually had full on lesbian sex witha girl but i HATED eating her, but loved being eaten... i find myself wanting to make out with girls but i want and love sex with guys.... am i bisexual? (link)
Well, if you ask me sexuality is a very fluid thing. It's best to just go with the flow. But either way...experimentation is never a bad thing. It's good to know what's out there.

Girls become attracted to girls all the time...and every other combination of sexes you can think of. The fact that you didn't like going down on that girl but you are attracted to girls...I'd say you're bi (if you want a label...I don't prefer them), you just prefer sex with men.

I know other girls like that too. It's not weird...it's just what you're into. Enjoy it.

hey I got this advice from someone is this true?

I recommend you ask some people that are in that AP class in your school. Because in my school AP US is the hardest AP class. On the first day they already had a test and had to know all the presidents in order when and for how long they served where all the states on the map where and I think the constitution. However I know in another hs it's a lot easier. So it all depends on your school. Ask around and find out about the teachers that teach AP US.

Good luck!! (link)
Yes, definitely! Classes are different in each school. It also depends on the teacher. Ask older kids who've already taken it and see what they have to say about it.

Good luck!

how do you grind? not like when you're dancing, just like laying down. (link)
Just rub up against each other. Generally the point of grinding is stimulating the genitals. Like rubbing them up against each others through clothes while you're kissing...things like that.

im 13, and boys my age are REALLY immature.. so i tend to like boys that are alottt older then me.

like, i like boys that are like 16-17.
is it bad if i dated boys that much older then me?

would be the pros and cons?! (link)
Here's a little hint...ALL boys are immature, in general. There are very few guys under 21 (or even over 21) that don't act like complete idiots 99% of the time (and the other 1% is spent sleeping).

However, it is true that 16-17 year old boys are slightly more mature than 13 year olds...sometimes. I'm 17 so I'm around these guys all the time...sometimes I have trouble telling the difference between them and an 8th grader.

Anyways, a big con is that, like someone else said, a 17 year old is looking for sex mostly...and that's it. Just get their rocks off and move on. There's also the possibility that even if you're mature for your age, there could be nothing common with your interests to that of a junior or senior in high school.

Another con is that you'd barely see that person because of the grade difference on top of everything else you do with your time.

Lastly, when you're as young as you are, having a boyfriend isn't the most important thing. There's plenty of time for that later...trust me.

I have very light skin, and I do NOT tan at all. It really sucks but I want to know what kind of bathing suit would look good on someone with really light skin. Like what color and what kind of bathing suit. Thanks :) (link)
Light colors for sure. The darker the clothing, the lighter your skin looks in contrast to it. White and light pink are good choices.

As for the type, try something really feminine. Maybe a bikini. If you don't wear bikinis, try cute little boy shorts and a tankini or a really "girly" one piece.

Pale skin isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, some guys prefer it. It makes a girl seem more...delicate or something. And some girls just plain look better without a tan...especially if you have freckles.

Hope that helps.

whats four-play? (link)
It's actually "foreplay". It's everything a couple does together that isn't intercourse. Kissing, touching, etc...

my older sister is so mean she calls me fat, lesbian, cunt, slut and other stuff like that.she even tells me to go kill myself.now my younger sister is doing the same thing but she is just listening to my older sister.i told my mam and she just said agnore them i try but it is really hard to.i just feel depressed and empty.even my boyfriend is noticing that somehing is up and he knows im not myself lately.he tries to help me but he cant do anything to help.my older sister has cracked my ribs and she pushed me against the wall and i banged my head.ever sence i banged my head i have been getting really bad headaches.i cry myself to sleep everynight and i just cant handle it any more.please help me i need it. (link)
I'd say talk to her but she sounds like she seriously needs help. I think what I would do is talk to a parent seriously and tell them everything. Tell your mom how depressed you are and just let her know how serious this actually is. This is definitely a problem.

Good luck.

oh my goodness. my period keeps flowing so fast, it wont stop. I have to keep changing the pads. does anyone know any ways to make it stop or go slower.??? I heard eating chocolate does i think? Is that true, or are there other ways? (link)
Not sure how true this is, but I hear that taking 800mg of ibuprofen every day (even when not on your period), it can slow your flow and shorten your period to about 3 days.

So my boyfriend is almost positive he got genital herpes from an ex-girlfriend. However, he hasn't been tested and he hasn't had an outbreak. We've been having sex, intercourse and oral, protected and occasionally unprotected. I'm wondering what my possible chances of catching or having caught herpes are. Thanks in advance. (link)
Yes, he definitely NEEDS to be tested. And so do you! ASAP!

There is a VERY big chance that you could now have genital herpes. NEVER have sex (any kind of sex) with him unprotected. Herpes is very serious and contagious and it's a lifelong thing...herpes is NOT curable and you definitely don't want to deal with that your whole life.

My sister is 25 and has herpes. She's only slept with 2 guys her whole life, both very serious relationships...and now she has to deal with this infection her whole life with ALL of her future sex partners...having to tell them and deal with the consequences.

Here's a reality check, there is a 50% chance of getting herpes from someone who has it, outbreak or not (it doesn't matter, it's still contagious), when you ARE using a condom. 50%! That's not good, you definitely need to use condoms from now on.

Get tested for sure, and I wish you luck on the results.

why do people put eyeliner on the bottom of their eyes? doesn't it like make your eyes look smaller??? (link)
I never used to wear eyeliner until about a year ago. I automatically started putting it on the bottom and top. Now that I've worn it for so long, if I don't wear it I just think I look like I'm dying.

As for your question, I find it makes my eyes look more attractive. I personally have large eyes anyways, so them looking smaller has never been an issue, but I've never seen anyone just wear eyeliner on top. I've seen people with eyeliner just on the bottom but I didn't think that looked very good on me.

It just looks different for everyone. But I suppose it would make your eyes look smaller if they're closed in by eyeliner on both sides. *shrug* I never thought about it.

does waxing hurt? would it hurt if you waxed under your arms? i've never waxed anywhere before so are there any brands out there that would make waxing hurt less? (link)
I'm not sure about brands, but waxing hurts no matter which body part it's on...some places more than others.

The least painful is probably eyebrows...most is probably pubic hair (OUCH). The arm pits are pretty sensitive, so I think it would be pretty painful.

Good thing about waxing though is it's quick, efficient, and the hair grows back slower.

Long story short--My mom and I are moving into an apartment, just the two of us. She wants me to make a list of foods that I want from the grocery store. Well, I want to start eating healthier than I do now (all my step dad would buy was fatty snacks and greasy foods).

So my question is.. What are some really good healthy snacks and meals and are organic foods good? (link)
It all depends on your tastes. I know all about that low carb, low cal, low fat, good carb, blah blah blah...but if all you want is a healthy balanced list of foods, here are a few ideas.

-WATER WATER WATER...that's a given
-Fruits and vegetables. Fruit has a lot of sugar, but it's natural...and they're mostly water. A lot of them have negative calories as well, which means you burn more calories digesting it than it contains within the food. If you get canned fruit, make sure it says "no sugar added" or "light syrup"...never heavy!
-Protein is a must as well. Chicken, beef, tuna, etc. Also, beans and things like that.
-Whole grains are always best. Whole grain bread, rice, noodles, pasta, etc.
-As far as dairy products go, try skim milk. I don't drink milk, but I eat cereal every morning with it and I don't taste a difference and it's much lower calorie/fat. Cheese is good too, but unless you're doing low-carb, don't go too heavy on it. Yogurt, cottage cheese, etc are also good things to have on hand.
-As for snacks, there's always the trusty 100 Calorie Packs and South Beach Diet snacks (crackers, cookies, etc). There's also things like whole grain wheat thins or reduced fat...anything. There are sugar free or light ice cream and Popsicles that are good.

Look at the nutrition information and pay attention to the following things: serving size (they can try to trick you), fat, carbs, sugar, calories, fiber (fills you up and keeps you filling full...good thing!).

Just think sensibly and pay attention to your serving sizes.

And the most important part of health and fitness? Exercise regularly! Even if it's walking a mile 3-5 times a week, it does the body good.
