hello :) im new to this..

i'm wondering if you can help me with mt question since you are a medical student! I have attended community college for about 3 years now. During those three years i have accomplished nothing. My transcript consist of horrible grades and a couple of "w"s (withdrawals).. and since my major was undecided for 3 years, i have taken classes from all sorts of major (got bad grades in most of them) im 20 now and have finally decided i want to get into the medical field as a nurse or a doctor. since i cant retake classes i got a "c" in, im wondering if my chances of getting into a medical school is screwed because of the many "c"s?


ps. not worried about d's and f's since i can retake them... if i do, it wont show up on my transcript though right?

Nursing and medicine are really competitive. Most BSN nursing programs (4 year RN) nowadays require at least a 3.5 GPA. However, you will probably have a better chance of getting into a 2-year nursing program at a community college (you get your RN still but just an associate degree). Depending on how many classes you need to re-take if you manage to really make a turn-around it can still be possible to get into a school. You cacn declare your undergrad as a pre-med at anytime. You just need to make sure you are able to get into med school in the end. But you really need to be committed and know that this is what you want to do because most of the classes are not easy. Nursing and med schools mainly look at your science courses (biology, chemistry, anatomy & physiology and sometimes physics) so make sure you do especially well in them. Depending on how many C's you have though, and if they are in the sciences, you will probably have a difficult time getting in. Definitely give it a shot though, but make sure you have a back-up plan.

I have always wanted to be in the medical field but not as a pediatrician or just talking to people. I don’t necessarily know what I should call what I want to be either..I want to be the one to do the research, discover cures in cancer/diseases, do lab work on people to find what they have or need, perform treatments, maybe make medicines and alter the chemicals, I wish to be the brains of the field and make a difference. I want to work hands on with stuff, I don’t really care if I work with people one on one and I am very smart with science and medical.
What would I call what I want to be? What major and is premed needed?
I do modeling, write/play/sing music, photography, and have had my paintings in state art shows. I also do sports and theater but I don’t want a career in those two. I am an art therapist at the children’s cancer hospital. I have quite a bit of knowledge on the topic of oncology, neurology and drugs. I am a skin cancer survivor, neurology patient and on painkillers.
Is there another field I can go into that deals with those? I want to prevent what I went through the best I can for others.. Is there also anything that can mix my talents into a medical job or simply side job that I can make a living off of?

You should look into working for the CDC. They do a lot of lab work with diseases and keep the diseases under control.

Whenever I run I get like sweat in my panites and its as if I peed but I know its not pee, but that is how much water comes out of my vagina, but I know its not pee cuz it doesn't smell like it. So my boyfriend and I have been dating around a year. We always hold and hands and he puts his arm around me, but we didn't kiss for a long time. It sounds like it could be a urinary tract infection. Is your urine cloudy? Does it smell funny? If so it most likely is since the cloudiness is a sign of the bacteria.

The reason I'm worried is because I've been on the pill for about 4 years now and I take it at the exact same time every day. Well me and my boyfriend went to a concert on Friday night and he held my phone for me and I told him to let me know when my alarm went off so I could take my pill. Well I went to the bathroom and came back and asked him what time it was and it was like 9:11. I usually take my pill at 9. And then I'm also worried because my boyfriend was a virgin before this and so I'm not sure if he put the condom on right. When we were done and got up he said "Well it looks like it worked"

You most likely aren't. 11 minutes isn't really going to do anything. Also, condoms aren't really complicated to put on so unless he has problems he probably did it right, as long as there were no rips or tears in it at the end. Take a test if you're that worried but I honestly think you're fine.

So I just got my report card back and I got two A's, but then I got two B's and a C+. The problem is with the B's and C was that I started a couple weeks late because I switched from another school and they had put me a grade ahead because there was some stuff I had already learned. I was really really upset and I spent about five hours crying. I just wanted to know if my grades count for anything. If they do I will go throw myself off a bridge (I'm twelve and a very distressed eighth grader).

I wouldn't worry so much about it. Your grades don't really matter until high school. Not saying to slack off or anything but its honestly just preparing you for h.s. Just do better next time.

I am 5'5'' and weigh 121, but I used to weigh 118 back in January. I ate badly/drank a lot one night and gained two pounds. Ever since then I haven't really been able to keep my weight down. I do not eat terribly, but I will sometimes binge on days and eat a lot for one day. I typically keep my caloric intake under 1,600 calories and work out at the gym 6 days a week for atleast 1 1/2 hours, with 1 hour of cardio and 30 minutes of weights. My question is, how did I gain weight so quickly, and why am I not losing weight? Ironically, I started working out a lot in January as well (going to the gym 6 days a week)and it's so frustrating that I've gained weight. I feel like such a fat ass and just want to get back to 118.

It's very rare that you gain two pounds in one night, usually it takes at least a week to lose/gain weight. Did you weigh yourself more than once since that night? Like at a different time the next day. Sometimes if you weigh yourself after you drink alot of fluid your weight is higher due to water weight. Especially since you go to the gym 6 days a week, I really doubt you actually gained 2/3 pounds in a days length.
