about

I'm a student studying Communications, Graphic Design, and possibly Music. I've worked quite a lot of jobs and I've worked with quite a lot of different people. I see sides of people that most don't really think about. Friends generally come to me for any sort of advice. My hobbies include playing music (bass guitar, guitar, sax, and singing), radio DJing, longboarding, art, and spending Sunday afternoon being lazy. Basically I offer some pretty solid relationship advice, life advice, or what to do life questions. I've also spent the last 3 years of my life being chronically ill so I can offer some advice on that level too. I've learned a lot of things and I look at life a little differently than most 18 year old women. If you just need some reassurance or comfort, I'm here. I'm pretty chill like that.

advice

So, I am fifteen, female. I live in the smallest town of Pennsylvania. This place has nothing to do, literally, no bowling alleys, no skate parks or roller rinks, nothing at all. Seeming as I can not drive yet, I am alllllllllllways bored. I can't take it anymore. Seeing the people on the Olympics and how dedicated and passionate they are for what they do is making me want to get out there and do things. So basically, all I want to know are things I can go do outside that can keep me occupied for long periods of time, I can't go anywhere because, again, I don't drive. I just want to be able to go out and say "I am so passionate about __" but I don't know what that is yet. So just name some things I can do outside that I can do for a while. Thanks a bunch!

Boredom is a state that can easily be fixed by nobody but yourself. A great sport that you could train yourself to do easily is cross country running. All you need is a good pair of running shoes and workout clothes. Since I'm assuming you live in a somewhatly rural area, cross country gives you plenty of opportunities to run out on roads that are not used too often. You'll be outdoors, you'll be getting fit, and it has many benefits. You can also train yourself up to be a great runner. You can start out small, like a mile or so, and work for weekly goals for yourself. Cross country races in high school are 5k races (3.1 miles) and you could even try and reach the goal of running half marathons or marathons. I hope this helps.

lately i've been getting headaches a lot. almost daily.. i've been to the doctor a lot about them and she thinks its stress related or anxiety and tension. i think that i have chronic tension headaches and they can't go away. someone my friend's new passed away 1 month ago from an aneyorism. i was beyond scared off aneyorisms after that and thats when my daily headaches started. i think i am just scared that will happen to me. the doctor ran tests through my eyes so she sayss theres nothing wrong with me.. but im scared what should i do..?

I've had chronic headaches too. Headaches are very common symptoms of a lot of different things, some serious, some not. You should first try to reduce your daily stress factor, get exercise, and eat healthy foods. Changing to a better environment my solve the problem. Keep a record of your headaches, what time they happen at, where they hurt, etc. Also keep tabs on other symptoms such as nausea, eye sight issues, things of that nature. If decreasing stress and improving overall health doesn't cure the headaches say after a few weeks or so, take your record into the doctor and explain your concerns and explain the changes you've made. They will then know the right steps to take or the right things to test you for. I hope you can get rid of your headaches. As far as whether it is serious or not, this should rule out any factors for non-serious issues and find the right test if it is serious. Don't stress about it too much or you might make it worse.

Hey.. When i was in high school, nursing was one of my choices besides political science and communications. I took up nursing because it was always in demand and i have loved the sciences as well.. I am now in my sophomore year and i don't think that nursing is really for me. I've been experiencing ups and downs. One time, i didn't come to class because i was so lost as to what i really like to happen in my life. They say, you have to love what you do but I guess i'm not happy with what im doing so how can i succeed? Writing is my passion and i regret it now for not really taking a course that suits me best.. How do i manage this??

Should i go on with my course? Or shift now? Is it too late?? I'm in my sophomore year at present.. And i think i lost a lot of time and effort already.. But at some point, i cannot handle the stress and depression any more.. :(

thanks!! :)

There is absolutely no sense in continuing on a career path that you do not enjoy or you will not do well in. Talk to an academic advisor to get some guidance. Sophomore year won't be such a bad time to switch your major since most students pick their majors their junior year. You might have to go to school a semester longer, but most students have to do that anyway. The average undergrad changes their major at least twice, so you're still good. Go find something that you like to do, that you're good at, and that you can find a job in. I hope this helps and good luck.

Recently I've been getting into cameras and I'd like to know your advice on a really good one, any brand but I've heard Nikon is the best. My price range is from $200-300$ (at the most). I want one that is decently big (one of those high tech looking cameras) but isn't a HUGE one. Any ideas?

All help appreciated!

I've worked with a Canon Rebel before and it is a great camera. I switched from a 35 mm film camera to digital and I found that the Canon Rebel was a quality camera, about the same size as my old camera, and came out with great shots. I hope this is helpful.

I'm a dude, My voice is fairly deep but depending on the day I can still hit higher octaves. I'm not sure why it varies but I can't always sing the higher notes. Any tips/thoughts/suggestions for increasing my vocal range?

Thanks

From what I've heard over the years of being in choirs and being a vocalist, it takes practice and training of your voice. It won't hurt your vocal chords to go higher so that's a good thing. You just need to practice a lot of breathing exercises and be sure to work on your falsetto as much as possible. Practice and muscle memory is any vocalist's best bet. I hope this helps a little.

hello everyone!
Okay let me start by saying I'm a 20-year-old female, married and well, just bored.
I need like a cool, interesting, affordable hobby to get into but I just cant think of any....
I'm currently a stay-at-home wife while my husband works all day, hes in the usaf. We dont have any kids.
Im looking for a job which has been hard to get one now a days but i havnt given up looking. I used to shop like crazzyy but I definitly cant afford to shop like that anymore. I'm into dogs, puppies, fashion, cooking, movies, taking pictures.
I just need something to get my mind off of everyday problems & worries.
Anything helpful will be appreciated. Thanks so much.

You should get into apparel design. Since you like fashion and other creative things this should be a fun and enjoyable hobby for you. This could also be a little profitable. It could be challenging, but those are the best kinds of hobbies. If you start making clothes, bags, etc. you could sell them at www.etsy.com, a site where handmade crafts and clothes are sold. I hope this helps and good luck finding something to do with your time.

OK Dogs and Cats are out so please no suggestions to get them:

Ok so i'd like to know how it is having a rabbit as a pet. We are thinking about getting one of the mini bunnies that don't get very big, but how are they with cuddling? Do they like it? See we want something like a dog that we can cuddle but that we can potty train like a cat and our pet store lady said we can potty train rabbits, but I just don't know how much they like to be held and how they are if we are at work or if we are sleeping. Are they ok alone you know like will they get depressed or are they pretty good about independance (ok now obviously i'm not talking about all day every day, just like a few hours). Are they good with birds if anyone knows. Thanks.

I grew up with lot of rabbits. The kind that we had were called American Fuzzy Lops. They were medium sized but all had a very sweet temperament. I've been around a few of the small ones before (Netherland Dwarfs) and it depends on temperament for them so I advise you to spend some time with your potential pet before bringing it home. Rabbits actually have personalities like dogs and cats. You can potty train them if you start from a young age. You could also train them to walk up and down stairs. Like dogs and cats, some of them cuddle and some of them don't. The fuzzy lops we had generally liked to be held and petted. They are pretty good on their own, although you could get a halter and leash for them because they do like to be outside. Being cooped up in cages all day will depress them and cause them to be kind of angry. They are quiet, they are good with other animals and generally kids. They are easy pets to take care of, just trim their claws once in a while. Just make sure you're getting one that seems laid back and you shouldn't have any trouble with them. I miss having rabbits! I hope this helps.

so i met this guy at a party. actually, i didn't even meet him. we didn't really even speak a word to each other hah but he was only there for a little. somehow he ended up getting on my camera, i guess someone took a picture of him so i added him on facebook. he messaged me and then we exchanged numbers and starting texting alot. he's kinda been flirting a little and we're supposed to hang out soon. are there any ways to not make things awkward? we've never talked in person and i'm not a real "meet someone online kinda person" if you know what i mean so i don't really know how to play it lol so i would loovee any help or advice

As usual in dating advice, be yourself. Usually first dates are awkward but just be chill, be funny, and keep things low-key. This will avoid any sort of complete awkwardness. You should also be open about your reservations about meeting people online, he might feel the same way and that'll clear up any internet-related awkwardness. My boyfriend of six months and I met on Craigslist when we were both looking for people to jam with so the first time we got together we made pretty chill. It was just as awkward as any other first date, but it all worked out. I hope it works out for you.

so long story short, i got into a bit of trouble recently. and my dad doesn't trust me anymore. he says i have to earn it back, since he can't take my word for anything anymore.

i was wondering if anyone would have any thoughts on what i could do?

i'm 17/f, and i can't drive. if that helps any.

This will take some time, but do try and buckle down and do well in all areas of life. You're smart and mature enough to handle this, since you do want his trust back. I also advise you to sit down and talk to your dad. Maybe offer to do something with him that he likes to do. Even though parents might lose your trust from time to time, if you make the effort to reconnect with them and show you really love them they can't deny you a little trust and confidence back. After all, parents do love you but just want what's best for you in life. I hope this helps.

and he asked me out.
this is very very strange, but i liked him. but once a person asks me out i all of a sudden stop.
and think there creeperish and all this crap.
ugh, i dont want to be like this. can someone please tell me whats wrong with me and how to fix that?

thanks.

It seems like you're one of those people who's all about the idea of a relationship but back out when actually faced with one. If you want to get out of this cycle, try to keep negative thoughts about the other person out of your mind, unless there are actual things that you cannot stand about that person. Try working on the relationship and enjoying what made you like the person in the first place. Relationships are a delicate balance sometimes, but part of it is just looking within yourself to not be judgmental and embracing parts of the other person you might not like. So I encourage you to try and make a relationship work because backing out of relationship after relationship will only continue this cycle of lack of commitment. I hope this helps.

i'm having a hard time knowing who i am right now.
like personality wise. i don't know who i am or who i want to be.

am i nice or a bitch? do i want to be open-minded or what?

i just don't know who i am anymore. i really need some advice on how to 'find' myself.

i'm kinda scared.

Take a deep breath. Slooow down. It seems like it seems like everything might be out of control a bit. If you have major stress factors in your life right now, reduce them or get rid of them. Find more time in your day to reflect on your life, etc. Pick up a new hobby. Find things that make you happy. This is the best way that I've found to determine who you are and where you're going. When life gets crazy you start to react oddly and your personality seems like it's changing but all you need to do is step back a bit and reflect. I hope this helps.

What am i supposed do??
My Boyfriend bought plane tickets. And didn't check with my work first. I have most of the days off. Except 2 which one can good chances be worked by some one else. But the other one can't I don't think.

If i don't go on the trip. He(bf) will be furious. Because he spent all this money. And He doesn't want to go alone.

IF I do, My work will prob fire me for not showing up on a shift i can't get out of.

That is why i wanted to give my two weeks.
But my parents are stressing about giving two weeks when i don't have a replacement job. Although i am sending resume's out every day.
I haven't told them that I'm going on this trip yet. Because they will conect the dots.
Trip=Quiting job to go on trip. But that isn't nescisarily true. I dispize this job alot.

What can i say to them to make them understand that This is my choice.

I am so confused!!! I need help pleaseee!

Just go and talk to your boss/manager. I've been in a situation similar to this and generally your manager will be human about it and give you the day off. If they seem angry about it and tell you that you have to work, then quit. If you don't like the job and it's making you miserable then why suffer? Even though finding another job might be hard in this economy, try not to stress yourself out too much. I hope this helps.
