Hey.. When i was in high school, nursing was one of my choices besides political science and communications. I took up nursing because it was always in demand and i have loved the sciences as well.. I am now in my sophomore year and i don't think that nursing is really for me. I've been experiencing ups and downs. One time, i didn't come to class because i was so lost as to what i really like to happen in my life. They say, you have to love what you do but I guess i'm not happy with what im doing so how can i succeed? Writing is my passion and i regret it now for not really taking a course that suits me best.. How do i manage this??
Should i go on with my course? Or shift now? Is it too late?? I'm in my sophomore year at present.. And i think i lost a lot of time and effort already.. But at some point, i cannot handle the stress and depression any more.. :(

thanks!! :)

Kat10 answered Tuesday February 16 2010, 5:03 pm: Better to know now that you probably don't want to be a nurse now than later. You're still in college, therefore you haven't wasted as much time as you think, and you aren't going to be wasting a degree. Many people do change their minds, often after years of being unhappy in an unfulfilling career. It gets expensive to wait too long, so if you know in your heart that you aren't going to be happy, and that you aren't just copping out because it's hard, then go with your gut and pursue you dreams. If you're worried about disappointing your family or something, think about this; YOU are the one that has to live with your career choice. YOU are the one that has to wake up every day and go be a nurse. While your family should have some input, this is ultimately up to you and no one else.

Talk to an academic advisor to get some guidance. Sophomore year won't be such a bad time to switch your major since most students pick their majors their junior year. You might have to go to school a semester longer, but most students have to do that anyway. The average undergrad changes their major at least twice, so you're still good. Go find something that you like to do, that you're good at, and that you can find a job in. I hope this helps and good luck. [ HollyHandsome's advice column | Ask HollyHandsome A Question ]
