Advicenators discussion: NKOTB

AngelofMercy wrote Friday March 7 2008, 10:55 am:
I am not sure how many (I can think of a few that are old enough to know who they were) know who New Kids On The Block are. However, if you know them, and haven't heard the update, they are making a comeback.

I have very mixed emotions on this one. I loved them back then. A part of me still gets nostalgic about hearing their songs and seeing their videos. However, I believe it is going to go over as badly as the Spice Girls reunion. While they may have the desire to come back now, in a few months, are they going to remember why they quit in the first place? I guess we will see.

They have a website with all the updated material on it. It is www.nkotb.com. You can hear a brief moment of one of their new songs. I am not sure if I am going to like the new songs or not. I guess we will have to see.

Here is the order in which I liked them: Jon, Joey, Donnie, Jordan, and then Danny. Of course, the older I get, Donnie started looking more appealing. However, it could be because he stayed in the public eye as an actor where he was getting more exposure.

When I got older, I kinda forgot about NKOTB while they were still out, and there was something that shocked me. I had no idea that Jon had left the group at the end. I am glad I didn't know, because I probably would have stopped being a fan altogether. They say it had something to do with anxiety issues.

Well, for now that is all I wanted to say. What do you guys think of the comeback?

I was all about Jordan back in the day.
Man, that seems so long ago! (Surely I'm not actually getting OLD...)

I hope they do well, but I fear listening to totally different tunes coming from them would just ruin it for me. Like you, NKOTB holds a certain nostalgia for me.

Ah, yes. As the young girls are now all worried about sex and shaving pubic hair now, I was swooning over NKOTB at that age.

And that is an interesting tidbit about Jon. I never knew he left the group! I always just figured they thought it was time to move on. I would have been all upset to discover that back in the day, too!

I know that is crazy about Jon!! I would have been upset too. I guess I had moved on before it happened.

Your right, there is no way I was thinking about shaving down there and worrying about having the love of my life at that age, hell Jon was the love of my life at that age!!!!

I listened to their music recently and can't believe I actually liked that stuff. They were all about harmony and music with a beat. I don't think I heard a song that had any meaning that was more than a few words. It's crazy.

Well back in the day, my best friend's sister listened to the "New Kids on the Block." We'd poke fun at her while we listened to "Ace of Base." Yeah, go figure. We didn't have much room to talk. Now that I'm older, I realize the importance of music to some. Even though you wont find any NKOTB in my CD collection! ;) For your sake I hope the get back together.

Thanks. It was released yesterday. They are going to be on the morning show on NBC (I think) Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved Ace of Base!! I've got one for you: The Cranberries.
ChevyIINova wrote Friday April 4 2008, 3:45 am:
Ugh...I was never much into them. Except for the song "Linger" Which is my friend's theme song. When he farts, it lingers. LOL.

LMAO!!

You brought it up, I'm bringing it out.

^^^ LOL Well, one night while out cruising, his wife turned the radio dial and that song started to play and me and my friend just started to bust up. It fits him so well.
