Advicenators discussion: Protein, Fats, Carbs, wtf?

ductape_n_roses wrote Saturday August 4 2007, 2:14 pm:
These three things are the major parts of life. How much you need to eat is confusing also =/ So here's the guide:

Protein:
1g equals 4 calories.
The amount of protein you need goes like this:
If you don't exercise much, you multiply your weight by 0.5 and that's how much protein you'll need. If you do some exercise, multiply your weight by .6 and that's how much protein you need. If you do heavy weight training and what not, you need to multiply your weight by 1.0...haha eat your weight.

Fats:
There are 4 types of fats...
Saturated and trans fat [BAD]
Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated [GOOD]
Bad fats are normally found in junk food you eat.
1g of fat equals 9 calories and about 30% of your fat should come from fat.

It's hard to consume all good fats since many foods have bad fats. But try to limit it as much as possible.

Carbs:
Carbs should fill up the remainder of your needed caloric intake [Read my Weight Lose topic to see how much calories you need to consume]

Again, 1 carb contains 4 calories.
Like fats, complex carbs are GOOD and simple carbs are BAD. But like fats, it's hard to avoid all bad carbs [white rice, white pasta, white potatoes, pretzels, junk food types]

And for the workouts, don't overload or you'll have really bad pains the next day =P

Haha. I'd rather write, or type in this case, a long, detailed, boring answer to the frequent questions than to type short, simply, 75% there answers to them. I just tell them to come here =)

Great list.

You should have my job, Emily :-D
ductape_n_roses wrote Sunday August 12 2007, 3:06 am:
Well, someone rated me a 3 because she couldn't find the link...and I had two things you could click to get here. So I guess it's her loss.

Copy & pasting saves me when I'm writing stories.

& thanks, Mike =)
But I very much doubt that. I think I'll stick with writing stories and giving people advice, while trying to finish Jane Eyre.

Haha.
Technology has made us all lazy and more stupid to a degree.

Seriously, two girls working at the bowling place couldn't add 23 and 48 without pulling out a calculator. Kelsi, Lindsey, and I were like "Wtf??????"
