Some of us on this site have been where you are today, myself included. I can tell you several things as to why this is what you are feeling.
Right know this is depression talking. Just why you may be depressed can be any number of factors with stress being the leading cause. You might be a teenager and saying what does a teenager have to be stressed about. You would be surprised. The teenage years, especially the early years, are quite stressful especially for girls. If you are a teenager the hormones of puberty add to the confusion which adds to the stress.
Stress causes pain both physical and mental. This pain causes depression. The depression causes confusion that is causing you not to know how to feel. I a certain sense you are experiencing is part of being a teenager although feeling as bad as you do is whole lot worse than what would be considered normal.
Parents expect teenagers to have trouble puberty and to act moody and rebellious. For as long as there have been teenagers it has been called a phase teenagers go through and will grow out of. Most do some do not. Today doctors know better and can help those who may be suffering as I feel you may be.
Whether you are a teenager or not you need to see a doctor and be screened for depression. It is a simple painless exam where the doctor will ask you a number of questions. Based on your answer the doctor can make a diagnosis. The doctor may want to do a complete physical to rule out a physical reason for how you feel. Let the doctor do so. When the doctor makes a diagnoses follow the doctors’ orders which may include seeing a specialist.
Please trust me when I say there is a light at the end of tunnel. The most likely diagnoses will be clinical teenage depression brought on by hormone imbalance. This is caused by puberty and easily corrected with medication.
IF you are actively suicidal please call 911. Tell the call taker what is going on with you. They will stay on the phone with you until help arrives.
If you need to talk to someone and you are under 20 call this number 1-800-668-6868. This is the kids-help-phone a trained counselor will stay on the line and talk with you for as long as you need to speak with someone.
There is also the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. No matter what problems you are dealing with, we want to help you find a reason to keep living. By calling 1-800-273-TALK (8255) you’ll be connected to a skilled, trained counselor at a crisis center in your area, anytime 24/7.
