Why are white people so un-apologetically racist? They'll criticize the new Annie for making Annie and Mr. Warbucks black, but say nothing at the entire Exodus film, set in ancient Egypt, being white washed. They'll even criticize characters originally intended to be POC, like Rue from the Hunger Games, and the laughable Dragon Ball and Avatar: The Last Airbender live action films. Why promote racism? Just because your parents, of an older time, are racist, doesn't mean you have to adapt to their flawed way of thinking. Think logically. I want a better future for the next generation, not a future where people only repeat the same mistakes.

First of all, I can understand how people are flustered by such things in some cases. Other people couldn't care less. And the reason for which way you feel probably has a lot to do with your own personal experiences in life.
However, you have to realize that not all white people are racist, just like not all black people, Latinos, Asians or any other group is. In fact, I would venture to guess that it's a rather small percentage who actually are. It's just that as that they are the ones that stand out, unfortunately they are the ones some people tend to remember.
Think about it. It's completely unreasonable to suggest that this world isn't better off racially that it was millenniums, centuries or even 50-60 years ago.
In suggesting what you are saying, you are actually doing exactly what you accuse "white people" of doing by lumping all of one race into a single category.
I understand your concern and hope for a better and more color blind world. But in order to bring that about, you need to commit to being part of the solution. ]
I agree with Dragonflymagic; not everyone is racist. But racism violence and sex sell theater tickets. It also sell commercial time on TV and has people tune in for the evening news.
There was a time when there was no racism in movies, mainly because there were few if any non-Caucasians in any roles in a picture unless the storyline called for it. The only TV Shows back when TV was something new was the Jack Benny show and the character of Rochester and the Amos and Andy show with two Negro's (as Blacks were called back then in a Laurel and Hardy type show.
As our culture changes so does the entertainment we see. There has been more violence on TV and in the Movies. Some say this has lead to the high crime rate in this country. In the late 60's the country underwent the sexual revolution and along with it came sexier entertainment.
Racism is something that has been around since the time of slavery and maybe even before that. It has followed a path unlike any other and it is wrong to judge a person strictly on the color of their skin. To stop it Hollywood and the News media must stop portraying it as they do. Though as long as it sells theater tickets, Newspapers and airtime to bring us the evening news, it will take time for change to fully take hold. Change will only come if what drives change makes the change does so first. ]
Hon, racism isn't the only thing being promoted on TV and other media. If you look hard enough they are promoting that men and women will only be liked or sexy if they look like the image they give you to reach for that is physically impossible to reach. It's all in the name of selling products to make you look or feel like one of the crowd, to feel sexy.
Media is responsible for shaping the beliefs of many people who don't know how to think for themselves or are very impressionable.
Sitcoms are increasingly becoming more stupid and characters ruder in how they speak to others, especially friends and family members, taught it is okay to cut someone down because it is laughed at in the show, it's supposed to be funny to have a sharp tongue and hurt people or pick fights with words.
There's probably a lot more I could list but thats just a sample of what's going on, and its all about ratings, and money, bottom line. They don't care about accuracy or leading people astray or promoting something terrible that shouldn't be promoted in the first place.
That unfortunately is the world we live in and its certainly not perfect. ]
