How do you know wether to walk away from your relationship or to keep trying?? I spent a year and 4 months with him but I don't know what I want or what to do..
The question you have to ask yourself is "Do I want to bother myself to work through these problems or not?" If the answer is no, or you're not sure whether or not you wan to, there's a problem there and you two should not be together.

Don't ever walk away when you have unfinished business or it will come back to haunt you. Unless you are 100% sure you are ready to move on, stick with it.

But in general, I guess when you're not happy and it can't be fixed, then you walk away.
If there are problems going on that you can fix, then fix them. If whatever is happening can't be fixed, then walk away.

Your question was very broad and unspecific, but I'll try to answer it as best as I can:
Well, when deciding if you want to break up with someone, you need to ask yourself if you are happy. Haha you don't really seem happy judging from the mood of your question. All I can really say is, (because you didn't specify why you are questioning your relationship) it is best to not waste your time in a relationship that either you or your partner is not satisfied with. Find out if your problem can be fixed. If it can be fixed- then just try communication...
sit down and talk with your boyfriend, and explain why you aren't happy with your relationship.
Lastly, in my opinion, if you are questioning walking away from your relationship, then it has some serious issues that need to be resolved or, unfortunately, it is time to break up...
