GIRLS ONLY: My period comes every other month?

Question Posted Sunday May 25 2014, 1:02 pm

In about September or October, I had my first period. Ever since, I've had my period every other month. I can't remember the last time my period was. I'm a virgin, but for some reason I feel like i'm pregnant. It's weird. But is it abnormal to get your period every other month?

No it's not abnormal. This can happen when you first start having periods. Some girls might have a regular cycle after having their first period and some may not have a very regular cycle. It’s not uncommon for girls to have irregular or infrequent periods when first starting their period. It can take time for your body to regulate your hormones so don’t worry right now.

Typically, when women first start to get their periods their bodies are still adjusting to the influx of hormones. When I first got my period, I didn't get my for three months after and even now mine occasionally skips >.>. However, my doctor assured me that it's normal. If you are concerned I would track your period and then show it to your doctor when you go to a check up. Also, you can't be pregnant if you have never had sex, it's impossible so don't worry about that :)

Since you're just getting started with your period, this is totally normally. Your body and hormones are adjusting to the changes that are developing so it's fine to have irregular periods.
I know the feeling of pregnancy, but don't worry about it too much. Thinking about it too much will make your brain fool itself into thinking your body is pregnant. For me, my period doesn't come every month but rather every three months...at first I was really freaked out but I learned about my cycle later on.
Be sure to mark on the calendar when your period starts and stops; that way you know how often your period will come.

I think since your periods just started not too long ago that your body is still adjusting. However this may be what you can expect from your normal cycle. Since you are still a virgin I am a little curious as to how you would know what being pregnant feels like!LOL(that is weird!) There are some similarities between pregnancy and PMS so I am pretty sure that is what you are experiencing. If you are really concerned get your mom to take you to a GYN for a check-up. Good luck!
