I've just gone to the 8th grade and I really want to improve my grades in school. My grades for the last 2 years were very bad. Please give me some tips on how I can get better grades and organize my workload properly (my teachers are very strict and give alot of homework and check our copies every week).

1- you must have the motivation to get better grades.
2- organize your work properly, finish the homework that has to be given in from earliest to latest. If 1 work is too hard, try to finish the easiest ones first so that you don't have to be too stressed about your other homework's, and you'll concentrate better
3- when studying don't just memorize/try to memorize your notes word by word.(I'm telling you wont remember anything the next day, unless u got real good memory.) you have to really understand what you're studying. Try to picture the explanations or rewrite them done a few times, or try singing it, or give it actions or signs in your head. It'll be way easier to remember.
4- this'll probably sound weird, but don't rely too much on people when about homework, you'll get more and more irresponsible. Unless its teamwork!
5- this ones really important, always work your best! For a teacher, seeing that you're working the best makes them feel like their student is actually learning something in their classes, but don't only work hard for them, do it for your sake.
6- always listen in class, I know, sometimes the teacher gets SO boring, but you have to do your best to listen, if its a subject you're really good in, its ok to space out a bit, but never let your guard down! If you feel like you got to listen, then do it!
7- never let anyone disturb you in your studies/work. If u have little sibling that just never leave you, wait until they go to sleep or go to a library or you can even do it during super time, if your parents are ok with that.
Well, that's probably as much as I can think of right now. Remember don't ever let anyone bring you down, whenever they do, just show them how strong you are to get back up!

If you're able to keep track of assignments and test dates, that will be the first step in doing well. For example, you don't want to miss points on an assignment that could have taken you 15 minutes to complete. It might help having a folder for unfinished work (ex. your teacher gives you a packet to complete) and one for completed assignments. This way you will always have a place to check for your completed homework when you turn it in. It will minimize loss. Next, I would try talking to your teacher or perhaps other students in the class to ask how they manage. Be warned though, often students will say they don't study at all, but spend hours reading up on materials. If you let a teacher know you want to do well in his or her class and are struggling, they might be able to help. Good teachers will respect your effort in asking for help and really will give you valuable advice. Third, I would give yourself ample time to prepare for exams. Sadly, most classes are graded on exam scores and nothing else. My general rule of thumb is 2 weeks prep for an exam. If you are able to split the material you need to study over 2 weeks it becomes much less overwhelming. Some tests may take less time or more time, but I feel like 2 weeks is a nice estimate. And lastly, I would stress the importance of practice. Whatever skill you're learning, practice it as much as possible. This especially becomes relevant in classes such as math. Try to do as many practice problems as you can in preparation for exams. Do your best. Don't stress out and have fun once in a while! [ TheAnnie's advice column | Ask TheAnnie A Question ]

It helps me to have a binder I carry around everywhere with me and i write down every assignment for each day in it and all the specifics so I always know what the strict teacher said to do. Try and set aside about an hour every night for homework and 30 minutes in the morning just in case. Having some type of folder or section for each subject is helpful and taking good notes is key. Highlight vocab and write plenty of side notes. DOnt be afraid to read and reread the subject matter until you absorb it. If you still have trouble organizing workload try and having a checklist in your locker you wrote in between classes of what subjects you need to take home and use it at the end of the day. If you are having trouble in one subject try and take extra notes and make sure you have time to ask a friend or teacher to explain it better. This year is prep for high school, if you are like my school district, good luck! [ whythehellnot's advice column | Ask whythehellnot A Question ]
