Mailbox locator?

Question Posted Sunday March 9 2014, 3:00 am

I am traveling and I need to mail something, but I don't want to get stuck downtown in a major city I don't know. Is there an app or a site that lets you find a mailbox near you?

You can find a post office in almost any town or suburb you are in by going to USPS.COM. On the left hand side of the page you will see; "Find a USPS location." Click on it then enter the city and state you are in. It will return a list of post offices in that area.

You can also look ups "UPS.com stores. The UPS stores are usually located in small strip stores or malls and will ship any from a letter to a 100 pound package. They will accept mail for the post office and sell you the proper postage, with a small service charge or ship anything you need via UPS.

The advantage to the UPS Store: Shorter or no lines than what would be found at any Post Office.

I've done this before when new to a city. I just did a search for Location of mailboxes. (or put US postal mailboxes) in CITY, STATE. You should get a list of addresses where there is a mailbox you can drop off letter. If you have a package to mail that won't fit in a slot like a letter, then do a search for locations of US post offices in city, state. You put your city and the state.

And then I took the addresses I wasn't sure of where those were and put them in Google maps with the address of where I was currently at and got to see which were closest. Maybe not as easy as an app. I dont know if an app exists...but my way worked for me.
