One thing I can tell you is that just like adults, they are all unique and all have unique personalities. With that being the case, one thing you can do is to make a serious effort of find out about each child's interests. From there, you should have several things to go on when it comes to coming up with ideas.
The scenario you ended up in is probably very common. This day in age, many children, for one reason or another, get caught up in sedentary activities. This can be anything from movies, to video games to playing around on the family PC.
My suggestion would be to try something a little more interactive that can also spur on the imagination.
If there is a park nearby, a nature walk sort of thing is always a good option. Maybe you could play a game like Twister which is both fun and promotes physical health. Or maybe you could make your own "group story" in which you can start things off with a basic plot and let the children come up with details, places and events to add into the story. Making up your own version of charades or pictionary might be fun too.

Maybe take out some coloring books and you all can color.
Kids love crafts like fingerpainting or playdo or something.
You all can read. Maybe like make a tent out of blankets and put some pillows in there, pop some popcorn and read, you guys can even watch movies in there.
Baking. Maybe make some simple cookies or brownies together.
Sing and dance.
Games. If they have any board or card games, play some of those. There are also video games, Simon says, Hide and seek, ect.
I know you said you don't have transportation, but if they live in a nice neighborhood, you guys can go for a walk to the park or walk the dogs or ride bikes.
I don't what they have but I hope this helped. [ lightoftruth's advice column | Ask lightoftruth A Question ]
