Question Posted Tuesday September 17 2013, 9:39 pm
So I am 14 years old and I write poetry. I have like a thousand notebooks full of my poems. I don't know why but I can't show them to anyone, I'm shy and embarrassed. It's like a secret, no one knows that I write them. So my problem is that I recently won a poetry contest and the prize is 500 dollars and I'll be published in a magazine but I don't know how to tell my parents. I know they will be proud but I like my poetry being a secret (ill be published under the name "unknown") so how do i tell them?
Hardcore-Band-Geek answered Wednesday September 18 2013, 6:37 pm: That's great you write poetry. it is nothing you should be ashamed about, are you afraid that you might not be good enough? If that is why; you won a contest!! Yes you should tell your parents. I honestly think you should just sit them down and tell them that you have been writing poetry and entered a contest and that you won. :) I hope this helped!!
