Female 16
The one thing I love the most is acting, I'd love to be a successful actress in the future, but it's my confidence. I find it easy to do anything in front of close friends, but when I'm faced with the whole world, my confidence goes down a tad bit. It doesn't stop me, but I panic and get myself worked up. I did Drama at school, I would say I was successful but my the fact that my confidence went down, it got the better of me. I used to go red a lot when I acted out a play, and I sometimes still do when I do things. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice tips, especially how to build my confidence up, thank you.

I know what you mean. There's the carrot and the stick approach.
To truly overcome this you need the stick approach.
You have to force yourself to speak up. What I did was volunteered as a spokesperson.
When I was your age I was the shyest girl in the year group. But to overcome that, you just have to step out your comfort zone and put yourself in positions you may not like.
The more you do it the better you become.
Don't practice in front of friends-there not the same as a proper audience.
Start volunteering as a spokesperson or something, many charities require them. When your up on stage or in a public hall-you have to speak. And the more you do it, trust me, the better you get.

If your doing your acting right and playing character you'll have your audience engrossed in the story and they'll see the character, not you.
If you're on a stage with lights, they will bleach out the redness of your face. That's why stage makeup is so colourful in reality- because the lights drown it out a little bit.
Act in stage plays where the lights shine in your face and you cant see the audience. You'll soon forget they're there and it'll be fine. Take a deep breath and focus. Practise until the lines come automatically one after another and then you'll gain confidence in yourself after the first good performance.
Eventually, once you've played one very challenging role that is far out of your comfort zone, you'll find the rest easy! Look and audition for that role. If you face your fears head on, you'll get over them.
