will the iphone 5 still be "in" for a long time?
im getting the iphone5 and I want to know that its going to be around or something new isn't just going to come up since im saving for it and don't want to have to switch to a different phone in a short amount of time

There's always going to be something new coming out so I wouldn't really worry about what's in. Because I'm sure their coming up with something else.
I mean people are still using iPhone 4s.
But yeah, something else will be out because they want more money and want to beat everyone else out.

The smartphone market as a whole is very dynamic. Of course it will become less fashionable.
Nokia is releasing another smartphone, and also Google's new phone is released in October which may be a hit.
If you're this concerned with wanting an 'in' phone, I'd just get it. I mean, people still use i-phone three's and i-phone fours, years on.
Also, the iphone five in my opinion can't be updated that much, the only thing would be on speed. And anyway, in a few years time you could always put a back cover on the i-phone 5-people may not b able to tell which model it is.
Sometimes there's only so much worrying you can do and 'what-if's' you can ask before you get stuck in a rut of not buying anything. Buy it! Its still new and in my opinion just having an Apple product looks good.
