My boyfriend's younger than me.

Question Posted Monday June 3 2013, 11:58 am

My boyfriend told me he was 13, when infact he's 12. I know 13's a little young to date, but I'm quite mature...I'm just wondering if he is..He lied to me about his age. Also all my friends say it's embarrassing to date a younger boy..What's you're opinion? Thanks

The only concern would be that, evolutionary speaking, women go for males who can provide for them.
But hey, as long he is doing well at school and has some ambition, its fine.
I mean, its not like he's 10 or anything!
He lied to you about his age probably because he didn't think he stood a chance with you in the first place. Which tells you he wants to be with you quite a lot.

It is not embarrassing to date someone younger, Not at all.

If he was 12 while you were 14,15 or older then I could understand as there would be a difference in maturity.

If he is a year younger, So what? Perhaps he lied becauae he didn't want to be turned down or judged. Also, You should never allow your friends to come between your relationship. It's about what makes YOU happy not them.

If you like him and he is nice too you then what's the problem? Who cares what your friends think, It's not their relationship!

No it's not embarrassing to date a younger boy unless you were like 14, 15+ and he lied and said he was your age and turns out he's 12.

The age isn't the problem. The fact that he lied is the problem. It might not be a huge deal but lying isn't ok in a relationship.
So my advice is to talk to him and ask him why he did that. If this was a one time thing, then you can probably find a way to forgive him and let this go.
When you get older you'll find that a lot of girls do date guys a year or two younger than them. Right now your friends don't really see that or have much experience to tell you that.

Nah, its not that embarrassing! I've known loads of people who've dated someone a year or so younger than them.

Its embarrassing if you were 18 and he was 12. In fact if that was the case, it'd be a serious problem.

If youre 13 and hes 12... well... tell your friends to get over it, if you think he's worth it. Besides, you might catch one of them dating a younger guy in the future.

Once youre a mature adult, you dont really notice age differences.
(Unless of course, a 22 year old dates a 93 year old. Someones going to notice that.)
