Another thing to remember is that if you Google it or write what you think people want to see in fancy language-teachers/employers can see right through it.
I say always tell the truth. Like you could put as a hobby 'walking' meaning you do the odd bit of walking-and no joke it could end up being a fifteen minute conversation topic in an interview.
Just make sure you write about an interest-meeting with friends is classed as an interest. In my opinion, make sure you have one hobby or extra curricular activity that relates to your work/research/career, and another that demonstrates you have people skills.
