Schools that require a uniform or have a dress code. Do so for reasons different than say the military. Yes they want you to all dress alike but the reason is based in academics not to identify you as part of the group.

In theory it is found that in schools that have a uniform policy or dress code the students perform better academically. The theory is is you take away all other manners of competition the only thing left to compete with is grades.

Schools that have dress codes or uniform policies usually include hair style and length of hair for both boys and girls. The color of nail polish and whether girls may wear stocking, leggings or if socks are required wear as well as the type and color of shoes.

Many codes go so far as to the type of jewelry that can be worn such as the type of watch, necklace and bracelets.

This is all in the name of taking all the dress competition out of the educational equation and forcing competition to be on grades only. It does seem to work as schools with these types of codes are appearing to score higher on standardized testing.

While I know you are not happy to hear what I written your school wants you to stand out academically not as an individual. My suggestion is to adhere to their police and not fight to find away to stand out as an individual. It is for your own best interest to comply rather than to fight.
