GI problems

Question Posted Wednesday March 6 2013, 8:58 pm

I serioulsy can't take this anymore. I understand this isn't a medical forum but I've been chronically constipated for a year and a half. I look pregnant right now. I stopped eating wheat, dairy.. and currently nuts to see if I have an allergy. Ive tried exlax, colace, miralax, probiotics. I've tried drinking tons of water and going for more walks. I've tried eating more greens.. things with more fiber. I've tried doing kegels. I had an xray done and it shows all my stool backed up but no blokage. All the doctors I get arent being invasive enough. but they say theres no blockage. I cant keep paying money for these specialists who barely do anything to figure out whats wrong. My stool is hard. I get diarrhea pains that make me fall to the floor but nothing will come out whenI try. I feel deformed. My stomach is not flat like it used to be. I have little energy, always irrtated. I even tried drinking that stuff you drink before a colonoscopy because some dumb doctor though it wolud help. It didnt. I was in the bathroom for 5 hours trying to finish that and nothing came out of it. I need help. Has anyone experienced this and gotten help? What kind of xrays should i get done? Ive seen so many doctors, tried so many things. I can't do this anymore. I seriously can't. I can't take this discomfort, pain, and worrying what is okay for me to eat and whats not. I'm at the point where I want to sop eating altogether. I even had an anal manometry test. It showed that some muscles were weak but kegels arent helping. please give me advice. please direct me to an amazing health forum that can fix me. I'm alwyas in pain. and its not chrons or celiac, they tested. What the hell is causing this constipation????

Did you start any new medication around that time? A lot of pills do have constipation as a side-effect, and it doesn't always start right away.
Have you tried TUMS or Pepto Bismol? Even if they don't help you go, they should help with the pain (definitely don't use regular pain killers for it.)
When you were seeing specialists, was one of them an allergist? This doesn't sound like allergy symptoms, but you said you are testing for allergies, so you should be thorough about it. When you stopped eating wheat, was it just wheat, or did you stop all gluten? Because just stopping wheat isn't likely to help.
When it get's down to it, you could just get a colonic... not something you'd wanna do often obviously, but it would give you a fresh start...

Unfortunately I know exactly how you feel as I had a similar situation with a back injury. After visiting a number of local doctors who handed out pills and said it was just a muscle problem my son, a paramedic, said why not try the patient referral Lin at one of the three hospitals in the area that are part of a teaching school.

We did, by luck of the draw the patient referral person set me up with an appointment with one of the top neurosurgeons in the country. He also was the head of the neurosurgery recovery unit for the hospitals trauma center. I sent him all the medical imaging and information from the doctors I had seen. It took him 5 minutes to diagnose me once we met. My problem was not muscular but skeletal and was not surgically correctable.

He set me up with the hospitals pain management center at their rehabilitation hospital which is also or I should say ranked in the top 5 in the county. It too is a teaching hospital.

If there is a teaching hospital or a medical school, which will have a teaching hospital associated with it, I suggest calling their patient referral line for help. They after speaking with you will set you with an appointment with the proper doctor to do an initial evaluation and if needed refer you to another doctor within the hospital.

What is nice I found about the teaching hospitals is the doctors have to stay ahead of their students for the students are always trying to please and show off to their supervising doctors. The interns, residents and fellows are not looking just for the pickle in the pickle barrel. They want to find the hearing in that pickle barrel. This is how they learn and please their supervising doctors and instructors.

My visits to the pain center always include a visit with their nurse practitioner, followed by either and exam by a resident and intern or one of the fellows and concludes with a consultation with my pain doctor. These visits are longer than your normal office visit. Yet when I come in with pain making it almost impossible to walk, I have yet to not to walk out on my own feeling better than when I arrived.

So try what the other adviser said and if their is a teaching hospital or even a level one trauma center near you. Try my suggestion as well.
