Hey guys!
So all my life i've kind of been a slave to my hair. I'm nineteen now and have been straightening it since i was maybe thirteen. And even before that when I was like nine or ten I was always finding ways to control my crazy maine. I'm half hispanic so my hair is extremely thick and frizzy and very unruly. It looks good when I straighten it, but I spend so much time doing it in the morning and after I shower it's just becoming so tiring.
I really hate the frizz and I dont look good with curly hair so there's really no question that I want it straight.
So now my question haha.
I've been looking up japanese perms (also known as thermal conditioning) and keratin brazilian treatments and have been weighing the pros and cons of what I found out.
From what I found, apparently both could be consididered harmless to your hair. The keratin treatment is apparently healthier for it because it's a conditioning treatment, but my only problem with this is that they say it still probably wont be 100% straight. It just smooths it over.
The Japanese perm is supposed to work extremely well and last a lot longer, but they use chemicals.
Does this harm your hair and/or cause pain while applying?
Is the Keratin treatment reliable and if it is what is it like after hair is washed and no products are applied?
Im looking for something that will not require me to constantly straighten it, and will air dry straight.
The other reason Im doing this is because over the summer I am going on a vacation in Mexico, and then later on in December will be spending a month in the Philipines with my boyfriend.
Ive been on vacations with his family before so they know how I am, but in the Philipines electricity is limited and I really honestly dont want to have to constantly worry about my hair. Plus even if I could straighten it, the humidity would ruin it.
