Do you think being a vet would be depressing, seeing sick animals every day?

No, being a vet is awesome. It shows that you have a caring nature towards animals. True, it's depressing to see animals be sick but they need cure and if you heal them, they will be happy again, and that will bring joy to you too.

I think you have to have certain qualities to be a vet-
Empathy-not just understanding but the ability to put yourself in the shoes of the sick animal
Intelligence-obviously
Don't wear your heart on your sleeve. I guess you have to become emotionally unattached from each animal you see. It's like a psychologist. They empathise with patients, but they remain proffesional because if they worse they're heart on their sleeve I guess they couldn't cope with the amount of sick people they see.

For some personalities aspects of this job could be depressing. But on the most part, I think it's a rewarding job if you love animals.

Hi there. The animals you help and save, and the response of their delighted owners will make you feel wonderful. Those you can't will sometimes break your heart. And like doctors and surgeons, ultimately all your patients will eventually die. As we all will. But the good you do will outweigh the depressing. It's a noble career. And a well paid one too. A good vet must be better than a docor. You can't ask your patients how, or even if they feel unwell. Of course, we can't go through life choosing only the pleasant experiences whatever our role. So if your heart's in it, go for it!
