So I have this problem which seems to be at night usually..my lower back hurts and tightens up along with my leg muscles. I have a problem with a vertebrae on the top of my back but that seems to be different but this is constantly almost everynight in my lower back in the center and the back of my whole legs. In thinking either restless leg syndrome or fibromyalgia maybe? Please help this sucks
Because of an auto accident I suffer from chronic back pain. When searching for the cause of my pain I saw many different doctors. None of them could zero in on just what was causing my pain.
Because of where I live we have a number of highly rated hospitals with medical schools. We also have the nations only Park level trauma center, which is highest level of trauma care anywhere.
All the doctors I saw said the problem was an encapsulated nerve. I called the patent referral line for the hospital with the park level trauma center. I asked to see a neurologist and explained my problem. I was told I needed to see a neurosurgeon. I responded that my brain was fine. They responded that neurosurgeons work from the brain all the way down the spine. The neurosurgeon after reviewing my medical file and medical images found my problem.
Before doing anything that may cause more harm I suggest you seek out a Board Certified Neurosurgeon for consultation and examination. You already know you have a spinal issue. It may be causing other issues with your spine that are correctable.
If there is a level one trauma center near you? You may want to do as I did and call the hospitals patient referral number and ask to see one of their neurosurgeons. As a level one trauma center they will have the best of the Board Certified Neurosurgeons on staff at the hospital. If no level one center is close call the state medical board for a referral to a board certified neurosurgeon.
If your insurance is an HMO or EPO type insurance see one of their doctors first. Then ask for a second opinion from one of the doctors at the trauma hospital. You are entitled to a second opinion and your insurance company, while they may argue and ask you to pick from among other in network doctors, must pay for the second opinion from the doctor of your choosing. Should they continue to refuse call your state insurance commissioner for help. [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]
lovealways1221 answered Monday November 19 2012, 10:07 pm: My boyfriend has this issue a lot. Most of the time I just give him a gentle back massage on his lower back and he says it feels somewhat better. But lately he has been going to a physical therapist and they crack his back and realign his vertebrae. He says this fixes it. So maybe try going to a physical therapist about it and see what they can do [ lovealways1221's advice column | Ask lovealways1221 A Question ]
