Question Posted Saturday November 10 2012, 9:12 am
I think I might be close to getting my period. I have cramps above my peepee (vagina) and my stomach has been bubbly , especially after I eat. And I am starting to have minor headaches . Is that signs of a period coming.
Additional info, added Friday November 16 2012, 4:03 pm: And I am starting to feel irritable. Is this also a sight of a period in the next two weeks. Thanks again for any advice.. Tigz285 answered Sunday April 14 2013, 9:31 am: It sounds like you could be getting your period soon. Cramps are definitely a sign and it's usually in your lower abdomen (above where your vagina is) and some girls can also have cramps in their lower back or pelvis. For this I would suggest a hot water bottle/heatpad placed on your stomach as this can help with the pain. Exercise, yoga or taking a warm relaxing bath can also help as well as painkillers like Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin etc).
Other signs include: spotting (little spots of blood in your underwear) and PMS symptoms like mood swings, headaches, swollen or tender breasts, bloating, backache, upset stomach, nausea, appetite changes or food cravings, fatigue (feeling tired). And yes, feeling irritable is also a sign. [ Tigz285's advice column | Ask Tigz285 A Question ]
itdependsonyoux3 answered Saturday November 10 2012, 2:06 pm: it could be.. how old are you ? if you are 12 or older, these could definitely be signs. does your back ache ? does your chest (breasts) hurt (like, are they sore when you touch them?) are you hungry alot ? do you feel bloated? do you have a lot of discharge (white or clear liquid) coming out of your vagina ? if so, you will probably be getting it soon, but dont freak out ! just let an adult know, get some pads or tampons ready (whichever you feel more comfortable with) and relax. also, try taking midol or advil/tylenol to help with the pain.
good luck ! :] xxo. [ itdependsonyoux3's advice column | Ask itdependsonyoux3 A Question ]

I promise you she (whichever) won't be shocked or surprised. Though I dare say you feel plenty awkward about bringing the subject up, eh? Don't be. I can tell you its nothing to be worried about and so on. But someone actually there in person for you will be much better. So bite the bullet and say to mum/big sis exactly what you've written. "I'm sure I'm about to have my period and its a bit scary...help me out please." She could arrange a little time off school for instance if you need it. And basically loads of stuff I/we can't do online! You'll wonder what all the fuss was about before long. I guarantee it. You're just growing-up. No worries mate!
