High blood pressure can be treated fairly easily (depending on how high it is). When its just slightly high they will give you diuretics, which are very mild. The real problem with high blood pressure is when people do not have it treated... thats when it leads to all kinds of very nasty things - everything from heart attacks to strokes. I dont mean to scare you, its actually a good thing you spotted it. Just go to a doctor right away.
Regarding cause, often it is purely genetic. Poor diet and being over weight are also possible causes (although it is uncommon to experience this at such a young age).
In the meantime, cut out salt from your diet - and remember junk food and fast food are loaded with salt. This will help and then your doctor can evaluate what else needs to be done. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
