I am jelous of my best friend

Question Posted Wednesday June 20 2012, 7:18 pm

Ok so me and my best friend have been friends for about two years. I am one year older than her. I have always been a little jelous of her because she is really pretty, but this past spring she got a new really cute puppy, got her first boyfriend(I haven't had a boyfriend). Also she used to be kind of shy, but now she says the funniest things and I can just tell that everyone loves her. But the thing that REALLY gets on my nerves is how much she shows off, for example shes always showing off how she owns like three horses at her farm, which may i add she goes to for 4 weeks every year, AND they arnt even her horses, they are her neighbors, which she just convinintly leaves out to our other friends, I actually own horses and can ride, but I never show off about it. Also she started acting like 6 monthes ago, ive been acting for more than 2 years, and she just wont stop talking about how many plays shes been in and how much she loves acting, we decided to do an acting camp together and shes not really a very good actress, well anyway she got the part I wanted and it really made me angry. It just seems like she gets everything handed to her, i mean I dont have a bad life at all, but I have to work for almost everything. Anyway, she is my best friend and I really do want things to be good between us, but almost all the time I either want to cry when I'm around her because everyone loves her so much, or else I just want to smack her in the face. I want to work things out, but I just don't know how to, I will take any advice you can give me.

That happens to everyone, so its not a big deal.. But at the end of the day, your best friend probably won't be intentionally trying to hurt you or make you jealous, its just the way you look at it. All friendships have jealousy but healthy jealousy, and everyone has competition. She's pretty(looks shouldn't matter), You'll have a first boyfriend when its the right time honey, Don't compare your life to hers, and if you have to don't upset yourself over it, I'm sure you're funny, sweet, beautiful as well just like her, maybe better, just have confidence and let everyone else also see the true you, they probably don't because you're busy being jealous.

And at the end of the day, all these things don't matter coz when you're upset or fucked up, you're best friend is always there for you.
So don't ruin your friendship over jealousy. Be happy for her if she has good things, be competitive, but don't let her happiness be the reason for your anger.
Hope I could help
