There are many reasons this could be happening. Something could have caused a change in you metabolism. This could be caused by a change in puberty, exercise, diet, medications (including birth control meds), stress and a number of other things.

None of us are doctors so it is not possible for any of us to give you a definitive answer to this question.

Having parented a 17 year old who was at the time a senior in high school. I would bet on one of three things if new medication(s) is not being taken. 1)Stress from preparing for graduation and waiting for answers from Colleges, 2)changes in hormones of puberty as in being at the end of you puberty years and 3) being more active then you have been something you may not even notice.

In any case, even if it is one of the above you should check in with your doctor as this is a change the doctor may wish to monitor at least through the summer if you are planning to go away to college in the fall.

At 17 years old, you are still growing, which can make you hungry more often. Are you active? Your body may need more calories to make up for what you burn with activity. Also, are you on any medications? A lot of medications can cause constant hunger and weight gain. A good way to manage the hunger is to keep very healthy snacks, like fruits and vegetables, around. This way, you won't feel guilty if you are eating more often. If you think it is more of a problem - something health or medication related - see your doctor.

Are you putting on weight? If not, then you're probably... just hungry! But if you are putting on weight then it might be something else like a stomach ulcer that feels like hunger, or is alleviated when you eat something. It could also be fatigue - you tend to eat more when you are tired. You should probably visit your GP if you are concerned about it.
