I'm not sure how old you are but if you have to convince your mom to get a puppy, then you haven't considered the costs of a puppy.
Unless your getting a G. Ret. puppy for free, you have to remember that they are an expensive breed and can run hundreds to thousands of dollars from a reputable breeder.
You have to consider that Golden Retrievers are notorious for having hip dysplasia/arthritis.
You have to consider puppy shots which is 4 injections of the Distemper/Parvo vaccine which are split up three weeks apart. Fecal exam, physical exam, Rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, MONTHLY FLEA AND HEARTWORM PREVENTION. *MONTHLY*
And this isn't including the spay/neuter surgery done around 6 months old.
AND they can have all sorts of issues. They can get diabetes, thyroid problems, cancer, hip problems, broken bones, obstructions, etc. It's really a lot to take on. And expensive.
Keep all of that in mind. I work in a vet's office and these these kinds of things happen daily. Especially with people that don't have the money for it. My office doesn't offer payment plans like other clinics because of the economy so you can't depend on that. Good luck. [ Ginguhh's advice column | Ask Ginguhh A Question ]

A dog or any pet for that matter is expensive and hard work. She may not want you to have a dog for the simple fact that once you stop taking care of it, she'll have to step up. She might not want that responsibility either. Since it will be your dog, you are the one that has to feed, walk and play with it. Also, who will pay for it's veterinary bills? If you're not working or too young to work then she'll have to pick that up too. You need to show her that you know more than just how to raise them. I also wouldn't nag her about it, she'll be more apt to say no if you bug her about it. Good luck! [ falsewords's advice column | Ask falsewords A Question ]
