Being able to see blood actually mixed into the stool itself usually requires a test strip. I think what you are seeing is bright red blood on the tissue paper and or in the water in the bowl. This could be caused by several things the most common are hemorrhoids, both internal and external and something called anal fissures.
While neither of these are all that serious and generally are left alone by the doctors; unless they interfere with bowel movements or bowel movements cause uncontrolled bleeding.
